So, I’ve been digging into this whole Yankees versus Arizona Diamondbacks thing lately. You know, just kinda casually checking out their head-to-head stats and all that. It’s pretty interesting stuff, actually. I started by just wanting to see what their biggest wins and losses were against each other, you know?
First, I went on this simple journey to figure out how to get my hands on all the data. It wasn’t too hard, found a couple of sites that track all this sports stuff. Then I started playing around with the information, organizing it, looking for some patterns. Found out that the Yankees have beaten the Diamondbacks by 6 runs, like, three different times! The most recent one was a 7-1 win at their home on September 22nd. That’s a solid win, huh?
Diving Deeper into Player Stats
Then I got a bit more curious and wanted to see the actual player stats from some of their recent games. Found a way to pull up live scores and detailed breakdowns of individual performances. I was especially looking at their game on April 1st. Don’t know why that date stuck with me, but it did.
- Checked out the game breakdown: Learned how to find the complete box score of the Yankees vs. Diamondbacks games. For example, their game on September 25, 2023, had an attendance of 41,096 and lasted 3 hours and 1 minute. Found out that Yankees won that one, 6-4.
- Looked at individual player stats: I figured out how to look up stats for specific players, like Eric Chavez. Turns out, he played 2 seasons for the Diamondbacks and 2 seasons for the Yankees. Noticed that 56 players have batted for both teams. Interesting, right?
Man, it’s kinda cool how you can just dive into all this data and see how these teams have fared against each other over the years. I even found out how to watch some live streams of their games. Watched one on April 3rd, though I don’t remember who won off the top of my head.
Anyway, it was a fun little project. Learned a lot, and it’s kinda neat to be able to follow these games with a bit more context now. Just thought I’d share my little data adventure with y’all. Maybe next time, I’ll try to predict the outcome of a game based on all this data. Who knows!
