Okay, so, I’ve been meaning to do this for a while now. I’m a huge wrestling fan, always have been. And keeping track of all the comings and goings in WWE, it’s like a full-time job in itself. Today, I decided to dive deep into the “WWE released wrestlers” rabbit hole. It’s a bit of a sad topic, really, but it’s part of the business, I guess.
I started my day by firing up my laptop. First thing I did was open my browser. I had to know who got the axe in 2021. I mean, we are in 2024 and I just thought, “why not start from 2021?” It was the beginning of the year when all the COVID-19 stuff hit the wrestling world hard.
The Search Begins
I typed in “WWE released wrestlers 2021” into the search bar and hit enter. The results started popping up, and man, there were a lot of them. Websites, forums, news articles – you name it. I clicked on a few, skimmed through, and started seeing some familiar names.
I grabbed my notebook – yeah, I’m old school like that – and started jotting down names. I felt it was better to write them down to really let it sink in. Plus, it helps me remember better. It’s interesting how many wrestlers were let go. Some of these names, I totally forgot were even in WWE. It’s a revolving door, this business.
Organizing the Chaos
After a couple of hours of searching and writing, I decided to organize my notes. I made a list, month by month. It’s crazy to see it all laid out like that. Here’s a bit of what I found:
- February: I saw a few names here. Some were expected, some not so much.
- March: This month was quiet.
- April: This was a big one. A bunch of releases happened around mid-April. It got a lot of buzz online. I remember reading about it when it happened.
I kept going like this, month by month, until I had a pretty comprehensive list for the whole of 2021. It was a lot more than I expected, to be honest.
Reflecting on the List
Looking at the list, I started thinking about what these wrestlers might be doing now. Some probably went to other promotions, some might have retired, and some might be doing something completely different. It’s wild to think about all the different paths they might have taken.
I spent the rest of the day reflecting on this. It’s a tough business, wrestling. One day you’re on top, the next day you’re out. But it also shows the resilience of these performers. Many of them find new places to shine and continue doing what they love.
So, that was my day. A deep dive into the world of WWE releases. It was a bit of a downer at times, but also really interesting. I think I’ll do this for 2020,2022, and 2023 as well, just to see the full picture. It’s a lot of names, a lot of stories, and a whole lot of respect for everyone who steps into that ring.
