This WWE thing in Dayton, oh boy, it’s a big deal, you see. Everybody’s talkin’ ’bout it. Wrestlin’, they call it. Big strong fellas, all jumpin’ around and pretendin’ to fight. My grandson, he loves it. He’s always watchin’ it on that TV.
They say these WWE shows in Dayton, they ain’t on the TV. They’re special, just for the folks that go there. I heard some folks say they’re better than the TV ones. Less fancy, more fun, they say. Just good old wrasslin’, without all them cameras and such.
Now, I don’t know much about this Dayton WWE stuff. But people ’round here, they sure get excited. They talk about the big names, like that fella they call “LA Knight”. He was there on the 8th day of the 4th month. People like him, he must be good.
- That Rock fella, he got a lot of followers. More than 552 million, they say! He must be somethin’ else.
- They say wrasslin’ used to be real fightin’. But folks didn’t like watchin’ the real stuff. Said it weren’t fun.
- Now, they make it all fancy, with stories and such. Keeps people interested, I guess.
These wrestlers in Dayton, they put on a show, I hear. Lots of yellin’ and jumpin’. They got these things they call “matches.” One fella against another, see who’s the best. But it’s all pretend, you know. They don’t really hurt each other. At least, I hope not.
They got these shows, “Smackdown” and “Raw”, I think they call ’em. Sounds like food to me. And these other ones, “PPV’s”, that people seem to like. They do this at the Nutter Center in Dayton. That’s a big place, lots of folks go there for all sorts of things. Not just this WWE in Dayton.
Folks used to say “What?” to be annoying, I heard. This Austin fella, in 2001, he did it all the time. Made people mad, I guess. But now everyone does it. Just a bunch of folks yellin’ “What?” all the time. Sounds silly to me. I don’t know why people like it, but they do.
Some folks say this wrasslin’ ain’t as good as it used to be. Say the fans are more interested in their own ideas than the wrestlers. Don’t know what that means, exactly. Maybe they just like to complain. Old folks like me, we do that sometimes.
These house shows, they call ’em, they’re different from the TV ones. More simple, I reckon. Like how things used to be. Just folks havin’ a good time, watchin’ the wrestlers jump around. They say it’s the best way to see this WWE. I suppose that is what makes the one in Dayton special.
I remember when wrasslin’ was just startin’ to get popular. Wasn’t nothin’ like it is now. Just a bunch of fellas in their underpants, rollin’ around on the floor. Now it’s all bright lights and loud music. Times change, I guess.
My grandson, he keeps tellin’ me I should go see one of these WWE shows in Dayton. Says I’d like it. Maybe he’s right. But I don’t know. Seems like a lot of noise and fuss for an old lady like me. I’d rather sit here with my knittin’.
But these young folks, they love it. They go to these shows, and they cheer, and they yell. They wear the shirts with the wrestlers’ faces on ’em. It’s a big thing for them. These Dayton folks really like their WWE.
I guess it’s good for Dayton, havin’ these shows. Brings folks to town. Spends their money. Keeps the town lively. That’s important, you know. Gotta keep things movin’.
So, this WWE in Dayton, it’s a big to-do. Lots of folks excited about it. Even if I don’t understand it, I’m glad it makes people happy. That’s what matters, I reckon. People bein’ happy and havin’ a good time. And if these Dayton shows do that, then more power to ’em.
