Okay, so today I wanted to get a list of players for the 2024 U.S. Senior Open. It wasn’t as straightforward as I thought it would be, so I’m documenting the whole thing here, just in case I need to look it up again or someone else finds it useful.

First Attempt: The Obvious
My first thought was, “Google it!” Naturally. So, I typed in something like “us senior open 2024 players” and figured the official website or a major sports site would pop right up with a neat list. Well, that was optimistic.
I did find the official USGA site and some other sports news pages, but no simple, complete roster. Lots of articles about the tournament, some featured players, qualifying info… but nothing I could just copy and paste. Ugh.
Digging Deeper: Scraping?
It will probably take a bit to compile, so I haven’t seen anything complete yet. I might end up needing to just watch for updates and build my own darn list.
The Manual Method: The Best I Can Do For Now
Since I couldn’t find a ready-made list, I figure, why not start my own? At least this way, I have something, and I can add to it as I find more info.
Here’s what I start from the searching results:

- There are currently 14 players are fully exempt into the 2024 U.S. Senior Open
And, That is all. As I stumble across more names, I will keep adding them to my list. Maybe a pain now, but future-me will thank past-me.
Lessons Learned
- Sometimes, the easy answer isn’t so easy.
- Official websites aren’t always the most user-friendly for specific data.
- If you can’t find it, build it. Or at least, start building it.
Alright, that’s my little data adventure for the day. Hopefully, this helps someone else out there. If you find a full roster before I do, Please let me know!
