Today I tried a new recipe, and it’s called Mary Ambrose. I found it on the internet, but it seems to be a hit or miss, so I figured I’d give it a shot and see how it turns out.
Getting Started
First, I gathered all the ingredients. The recipe called for a bunch of fruits – like oranges, pineapples, and cherries. I also needed some coconut flakes and mini marshmallows. Seemed pretty simple.
Mixing It Up
I started by chopping up the fruits. The oranges were juicy, and I had to be careful not to make a mess. Then, I dumped the pineapple chunks and cherries into a big bowl. I threw in the coconut flakes, which made it smell tropical, and added the marshmallows. The recipe called for a cup, but I love marshmallows, so I added a bit more.
The Dressing
The next part was making the dressing. I wasn’t sure about this, but it just called for some sour cream and a bit of sugar. I mixed them together until it was smooth. It seemed a bit bland, so I added a tiny splash of vanilla extract. That seemed to do the trick.
Putting It Together
I poured the dressing over the fruit mixture and gently folded everything together. I wanted to make sure the fruits were nicely coated but not crushed. The marshmallows started to absorb some of the dressing, which looked kind of cool.
Chilling Time
The recipe said to chill it in the fridge for at least an hour. I covered the bowl with some plastic wrap and stuck it in there. It was hard to wait, but I figured it would let the flavors blend better.
Tasting
Finally, after an hour, I took it out. I grabbed a spoon and took a big bite. It was pretty good! The fruits were sweet and tangy, and the marshmallows added a nice chewy texture. The coconut flakes gave it a nice crunch. The dressing was creamy and tied everything together.
- Pros: Super easy to make, and you can adjust the fruits to your liking.
- Cons: Might be too sweet for some people, and the marshmallows can get a bit soggy if you leave it in the fridge too long.
Overall, I’d say it’s a fun and easy dessert to make. Not sure if it’s a classic, but it’s worth trying, especially if you have a sweet tooth like me.
