Okay, so I wanted to put together a quick comparison for that upcoming Canelo Alvarez vs. Jaime Munguia fight, you know, the classic “tale of the tape” style. It’s always good to see the basic stats side-by-side before a big bout.
Getting Started
First thing I did was just open up my usual text editor. Nothing fancy. I knew I needed the core physical stats and records for both fighters. It’s the standard stuff you always see.
So, I started digging around online. Had to search specifically for Canelo Alvarez stats and then separately for Jaime Munguia stats. You gotta make sure you’re getting info that’s reasonably up-to-date, especially the records.
Gathering the Stats
I focused on pulling these key pieces of information for each guy:
- Age
- Height
- Reach (This one can sometimes be tricky to find consistent numbers for, but I found some common ones)
- Stance (Orthodox, Southpaw, etc.)
- Professional Record (Wins, Losses, Draws)
- Knockout count (and the KO percentage that comes from it)
I jotted these down as I found them. Sometimes I had to cross-reference between a couple of boxing stat sites just to feel comfortable the numbers were mostly right. You know how it is, sometimes one place says one height, another says slightly different.
Putting it Together
Once I had the numbers for both Canelo and Munguia, I organized them. I basically created two columns in my notes, one for each fighter, and listed the stats down the side so you could compare them directly.

For example:
AGE: Canelo’s Age vs Munguia’s Age
HEIGHT: Canelo’s Height vs Munguia’s Height
And so on, for all the stats I gathered. I made sure to label everything clearly. Record is always a big one, so I put the Wins-Losses-Draws and then the number of KOs right there.
Finally, I just typed it up neatly. Used some simple formatting like bolding the names and the stat categories (like HEIGHT, REACH, etc.) just to make it easier to read. No complicated graphics or anything, just the raw numbers presented clearly. It gives you a decent snapshot of how they measure up physically and on paper before they even step into the ring. Simple process, really, just took a bit of searching and organizing.
