Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this Bulls starting lineup idea for a while now, and I gotta say, it’s tougher than it looks. I mean, you’ve got all these talented guys, but figuring out the best combo? That’s a whole other ball game.
First, I started by looking at the obvious choices, right? You got Zach LaVine, a scoring machine, gotta have him in there. And then I thought, “Hey, why not throw in Coby White?” The guy’s young, got potential, and he can shoot the lights out. So, I penciled them in.
- Added Zach LaVine
- Added Coby White
Then I got a little stuck. Tried a bunch of different options, you know? I considered putting in Josh Giddey since he’s a pretty good player. Put him in as a guard, and move LaVine to his postion.
- Moved in Josh Giddey
Next up, the forwards. I definitely wanted to experiment and see what happens if I put Jalen Smith in, I mean, the guy’s got the skills. I also threw Patrick Williams into the mix. I figured, those two together, they could really shake things up on the court.
- Added Patrick Williams
- Moved in Jalen Smith
For the center position, initially, I couldn’t make up my mind. But then it hit me. I remembered watching some old games, and I thought, “Man, Michael Jordan, that’s the guy.” Okay, okay, I know he’s not on the team anymore, but just imagine, right? I ended up spending hours going down that rabbit hole, watching highlights and stuff. It is a pitty that he is retired.
After playing around with different combinations, I finally landed on a lineup that I think could work. I swapped a few guys in and out, moved some others around, and tested it out in my head a million times.
My Final Lineup
- Point Guard: Coby White
- Shooting Guard: Josh Giddey
- Small Forward: Zach LaVine
- Power Forward: Patrick Williams
- Center: Jalen Smith
So there you have it. It’s not perfect, and I’m sure there are a million other ways to do it, but that’s what I came up with. It was a fun little project, even if it did make my head spin a bit. I kept changing things around, trying to find that “sweet spot,” you know? At one point, I even started wondering if they should just play small ball all the time, with all those three-pointers they’re taking these days. Last season, the data showed that they ranked 26th in three-point attempts. But this season, they’re up to 5th! That’s a huge jump!
Anyway, it was a good time-killer, and who knows, maybe the Bulls’ coach will stumble upon this and get some ideas, haha. A man can dream, right?
