Getting Around to the Mookie Betts Topps Pile
Okay, so today I finally decided to tackle the stack of Mookie Betts Topps cards I had piling up. It’s one of those things, you know? You put it off, then one day you just gotta do it.

First thing, I pulled out the storage box where I keep a lot of the modern baseball stuff. Found the sections where I’d just kinda shoved Mookie cards over the years. Honestly, there were more than I remembered. Spread them all out across the big table. Just wanted to see everything I had from Topps with his name on it.
Then, I started sorting. Made sense to go by year, mostly. Makes it easier to see what you’ve got.
- Grouped the base Topps flagship cards together.
- Made another pile for Topps Chrome.
- Found some Bowman cards from when he was still a prospect.
- Separated out the inserts and parallels I could spot easily.
Saw I had quite a few doubles, especially of the base cards from recent years. That happens when you buy packs or boxes. Pulled aside his main rookie cards, the 2014 Topps Update ones. Those always feel a bit special, don’t they?
Some cards looked a bit nicer than others, condition-wise. Decided to check a couple online. Just went on my computer, you know, typed in the card details like “2014 Topps Update Mookie Betts” or maybe a specific parallel I found. Didn’t spend ages on it, just wanted a ballpark figure for what folks are asking or getting. It’s wild how much prices can change, especially with grading involved. My stuff is mostly raw, straight from packs back in the day or bought as singles years ago.
Ended up spending a good chunk of the afternoon doing this. More time than I thought, easily a couple of hours just sorting and doing quick lookups. It’s kinda relaxing though, handling the cards again. Brings back memories of watching him play, the trades, all that.

Now the big question is what next. Thinking I should probably put the better ones, like the rookies, into some safer holders. Maybe list the duplicates somewhere to trade or sell? Dunno yet. But hey, at least they’re organized now. That’s the main thing I wanted to achieve today. Feels good to have that sorted out.
