Okay, so I’ve been messing around with UFC 4 lately, trying to figure out what the heck is the best way to fight in this game. It’s been a wild ride, let me tell you.
First, I started by just picking random fighters, no real strategy, just going in there and mashing buttons. Yeah, that didn’t work out so well. I got my butt kicked more times than I can count. Then I started to think there must be a better way.
- I checked out this “career mode” thing, where you can pick your fighting style.
- I noticed the game mentioning something about “styles” in previous versions but now it determines your stance.
- I read somewhere that kickboxer and balanced are pretty good, and wrestler is decent too.
So, I decided to experiment. I created a kickboxer character, thinking I’d be all fancy with the kicks and stuff. It was okay, I guess. I won some, lost some. Then I tried a balanced fighter, which was a bit better. It felt like I had more options, you know? I could throw punches, kicks, and even do some grappling.
Then I dove deeper. I started looking at specific fighters. This Max Holloway guy? Man, he’s a beast! He’s like a machine, just relentless. I tried to copy his style, but it’s harder than it looks. You gotta be really precise with your strikes and have good timing.
Some Fighters Have Insane Records
Then I saw that some of these fighters have crazy records, like 29 wins and 0 losses. How the heck do they do that? There must be some secret sauce I’m missing. I read a bunch of guides online, but they all seemed too focused on pros, and I am not there yet.
I tried a wrestler build next. It was… different. Lots of takedowns and ground-and-pound. It’s effective, but not really my style. I like to stand and bang, you know? I also saw that the UFC gaming community had a survey about the best builds, but they all seemed to play differently.
I learned there are 11 weight categories in the game, which is a lot to consider. It’s not a one-size-fits-all situation. It’s been a learning process, that’s for sure. One guy even mentioned having “wars inside the Octagon”, which sounds cool. I’m still trying to find that perfect fighting style for me. Maybe it’s a mix of styles, I don’t know. I’m still figuring it out, but it’s been a fun, frustrating, and rewarding experience.
It seems that there is not a perfect build, but I will keep practicing. Maybe one day I will also have my own war inside the Octagon.
