Okay, so I saw this thing online about “what’s in the bag lucas glover,” and it got me thinking about my own golf gear. I’m not a pro or anything, but I do like to hit the links every now and then. So, I decided to take a look at what I had and compare it to what this Lucas Glover guy uses. It says here that he plays in some big tournament called the Sanderson Farms Championship or something.
First off, I emptied my golf bag onto the living room floor. Clubs everywhere, balls rolling around, tees, the whole nine yards. My wife gave me that look, you know the one, but whatever, I was on a mission.
I started with the big stick, the driver. Now, I’ve got a hand-me-down I don’t know what brand, it’s old, but it gets the job done (most of the time). Apparently, this Glover guy uses something called a “Titleist GT2,” whatever that is. I guess it’s some fancy high-tech thing. He’s got it set to 10 degrees, whatever that means. Mine doesn’t have any numbers on it. I just whack the ball and hope for the best.
Then I went through my irons. I’ve got a mix-and-match set, some I bought at a garage sale, others I think I inherited from my uncle. I have no clue what kind they are. I just know some go further than others. I couldn’t find any info on what irons Glover uses, probably some top-secret stuff.
Wedges are next. I’ve got a couple, one’s pretty rusty, but it’s got good grooves, I think. I use it for chipping around the green. I doubt Mr. Glover’s wedges have any rust on them.
And the putter, oh boy. Mine’s seen better days. The grip’s all worn out, and it’s got a few dings. But hey, it still rolls the ball into the hole… sometimes. I bet Glover’s got a putter that costs more than my whole set.
Lastly, I looked at my golf balls. A motley crew, for sure. Some are scuffed up, some are brand new (those are the ones I usually lose on the first hole). I pick them up when playing, and get some cheap ones from some random shop, or get some balls from those used balls barrels in golf shops. I found one from another golf course in my bag this time! I’m guessing Glover only plays with shiny new balls, probably has his name printed on them too. And he uses 14 clubs, I have way more clubs than him in my bag!
- So, after this whole inventory thing, what did I learn?
- Well, for starters, my gear is nowhere near as fancy as a pro’s.
- But you know what? It doesn’t really matter. I still have fun out there, and that’s what counts.
- Maybe one day I’ll upgrade my clubs, but for now, I’m happy with my trusty old set.
- It just shows that you don’t need the best gear to enjoy the game.
Anyway, that’s my little adventure in comparing my golf bag to Lucas Glover’s. It was a fun little exercise. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go clean up this mess before my wife really loses it.
