Alright, so I was flipping channels the other night, ended up watching some WWE. And there they were, the LWO. Rey Mysterio and the crew. It got me thinking, you know? Thinking back to the old days, the original LWO with Eddie Guerrero in WCW.

So, I got this itch. I decided I wanted to really dig back into the LWO stuff. Not just the new guys, who are cool, don’t get me wrong, but the original vibe. See how it holds up, compare it maybe.
My little project kicks off
First thing I did was hit the computer. Started searching for old WCW Nitro or Thunder episodes featuring the LWO. Man, finding specific stuff from that era? It’s not always easy. Lots of clips, sure, but full segments or matches, properly labeled? Bit of a mess sometimes.
- Checked out the WWE Network first. They’ve got tons of WCW content, right? So I started digging through Nitro episodes from ’98, ’99.
- Found some Eddie segments, him forming the group. That was pretty cool to see again.
- Then I tried YouTube, Dailymotion, places like that. Found some fan uploads, quality varies a lot, you know how it is.
Spent a good few hours just clicking around, watching bits and pieces. It’s funny, you go looking for one thing, and you end up watching a whole bunch of other random matches from that time. Got totally sidetracked by some old Chris Jericho promos for a while.
Comparing the vibes
Watching the old stuff, then seeing the new LWO… it’s different. The original felt kinda rebellious, almost like a parody sometimes, but with Eddie leading it, it had that edge, that Latino Heat. They were crashing commentary, making their own merch. It felt chaotic and fun.
The new LWO, with Rey, Santos Escobar, Zelina Vega, and the others… they’re talented, absolutely. But the feeling is more… polished? It feels more like a standard WWE group, less like the garage band feel the original had. Maybe that’s just nostalgia talking, hard to say.

Finding the merch was another thing I thought about. Remember those black and white LWO shirts? Iconic. Tried looking online just out of curiosity. Found some replicas, some new WWE versions. Not quite the same as finding an original packed away somewhere, but hey.
Wrapping it up
So yeah, that was my dive back into the LWO world. Started with seeing the new guys, ended up spending a whole evening digging through late 90s wrestling. It was fun, a good trip down memory lane. The original LWO stuff still holds a certain charm, that raw energy. The new group is carrying the name, and that’s cool too, just in a different way. It basically ate up my whole weekend, but hey, sometimes you just gotta follow that rabbit hole, right?
