Okay, so today I got this bug in my head about Jimmy Connors. Just popped in there while I was having my coffee. Remember that guy? Fiery temper, two-handed backhand, just relentless on the court. So, I figured, let’s see what ol’ Jimbo is up to these days. It’s sort of a habit, checking in on figures from back then.

My Little Search Mission
Didn’t do anything fancy. Just started poking around online. You type the name, see what comes up. News articles, maybe some social media chatter, interviews if you’re lucky. Took me maybe 15-20 minutes, just casually browsing through stuff.
Here’s the gist of what I gathered:
- He’s still around, obviously. Seems to be keeping mostly to himself compared to some other legends, but not entirely invisible.
- Pops up now and then with opinions on the current state of tennis. Definitely still has strong views, which isn’t exactly a shocker if you watched him play.
- Seems like he does some commentary or appearances occasionally, but not like a full-time gig. More like when he feels like it.
- There was some talk about his health a while back, but seems okay now from what I could piece together. Hard to tell for sure with private folks.
- Still connected to the tennis world, naturally. You don’t spend a lifetime in a sport and just forget about it. Probably follows the big tournaments.
Thinking Back and Now
It’s funny looking this stuff up. You see the old photos, the highlights. Man, he was something else. That energy! The game’s different now, obviously. Different rackets, different style. Power is huge today. Connors had power, but it was his fight, that never-say-die stuff, that really stood out. You don’t see that raw edge quite the same way now, I don’t think.
He also had that long career. Played forever, it felt like. Seeing him compete against guys much younger towards the end was wild. That US Open run in ’91? Crazy stuff. Pure grit.
So yeah, that was my little rabbit hole for the day. Just satisfying a curiosity. Seems he’s doing his thing, staying involved enough to comment but mostly enjoying his time. Good for him. It’s always interesting to see how these icons handle life after the spotlight fades a bit. Some cling on, others just… live. He seems more like the latter. Anyway, time for another coffee.
