Okay, so yesterday I decided to try making those “boo buie wingspan” things I saw on TikTok. It looked pretty simple, and you know I like trying out new crafts.

Getting Started
First, I gathered all the materials. According to the videos, I needed:
- Some kind of round base (I used a small embroidery hoop)
- White fabric (I grabbed an old pillowcase)
- Black felt for the eyes
- Some stuffing (I just ripped apart a cheap throw pillow)
- String or fishing line
- And of course, scissors and glue (hot glue gun, because who has time to wait?)
The Messy Part
I started by cutting the fabric into a rough circle, a bit bigger than my hoop. Didn’t measure, just eyeballed it. Then I wrapped the fabric around the hoop and glued it down. It wasn’t perfect, got some wrinkles, but hey, it’s a ghost, it’s supposed to look a little messed up, right?
Next, I stuffed a bit of the pillow fluff into the center to give it that rounded, ghost-like shape. It took a bit of fiddling to get it how I wanted, kind of like shaping a weird fabric dumpling.
Then came the eyes. I cut out two small circles from the black felt. Again, no measuring, just went for it. I glued them onto the fabric, trying to make them look somewhat even. One eye ended up a little higher than the other, but you know, adds character!
The Wingspan
This is where it got interesting. I took more of the white fabric and draped it over the hoop, letting it hang down like wings. I played around with it for a while, bunching it up in places, spreading it out in others, until I got a shape I liked. It’s supposed to look like it’s floating, so I wanted it to be a bit uneven.

Once I was happy with the shape, I trimmed off the excess fabric and used the hot glue gun to secure the “wings” to the hoop. Burned my finger a couple of times, the usual.
Finishing Touches
Finally, I tied some fishing line to the top of the hoop so I could hang it up. Found a good spot on my wall, and there you go! My very own “boo buie wingspan” decoration.
It’s not perfect, definitely a bit wonky, but I think it turned out pretty cute. And it was fun to make! Might try making a few more in different sizes, maybe even add some LED lights for a spooky glow. We’ll see how ambitious I’m feeling tomorrow.
