Okay, let me tell you about my hunt for that mythical star fragment island in ACNH. It wasn’t exactly planned, more like a “I really need star bits” kind of mission.

Getting Started – The Grind
First off, you know you need those Nook Miles Tickets. Lots of ’em. I’d been saving up Nook Miles for ages, doing all those little daily tasks, you know? Cashing them in felt like spending a fortune, but I was determined. I probably burned through, I don’t know, maybe 15 or 20 tickets this one time I finally hit the jackpot.
So, the routine begins. You head over to the airport. Chat with Orville. Gotta love that dodo. Tell him “I wanna fly!” then “Use Nook Miles Ticket”. Off you go, watching that little seaplane animation again and again.
Island Hopping Madness
Man, the islands I landed on before finding the right one… it gets repetitive. You step off the plane, Wilbur’s there, same old greeting. Then you look around.
- Sometimes it was just my native fruit island. Pointless.
- Got a few bamboo islands. Okay, good for materials, but not what I was after.
- Landed on one that was just full of weeds and maybe some common butterflies. Meh.
- Even got that dreaded trash island once. Fished up tires and cans. Great.
Each time, you kinda sigh, maybe grab a few resources if they’re decent, then head back to Wilbur and tell him “Time to go home,” only to immediately run back to Orville for another ticket. It tests your patience, for sure. I was getting pretty tired of seeing Orville’s face, haha.
Jackpot! Finally Found It
Then, one trip… it was different. As soon as I landed, I noticed it was night (which isn’t that unusual for mystery islands), but then I heard it. That little twinkling sound. And I looked up. Shooting stars! Not just one or two, but constant streams of them. Like, every few seconds.

I immediately put my tools away. You gotta have empty hands to make a wish, right? Stood there on the beach, tilted the camera up, and just started mashing the ‘A’ button. Wish. Wish. Wish. Lost count how many I made. It felt kinda frantic but awesome.
After I figured I’d wished on enough (or my thumb got tired), I checked out the rocks on the island. Usually, you get iron, stone, clay, maybe gold. But these rocks? Bam! Star fragments popped out. Mostly the small yellow ones, but I definitely got a few Large Star Fragments and even a couple of Aries fragments since it was that time of year.
So, standard rock-hitting procedure: dig two or three holes behind you so you don’t bounce back, then start whacking away with your shovel or axe. Eight hits per rock, and every single one was dropping star bits. It was wild.
Heading Home with the Loot
Cleared the island of weeds just to make sure I didn’t miss any rocks, hit them all, wished on maybe a dozen more stars just for good measure. My pockets were full. Talked to Wilbur, finally feeling super satisfied, and headed home.
Woke up the next “day” in the game, ran straight to my beaches. And yep, littered with star fragments from all the wishes I’d made on that island, plus all the ones I’d stuffed in my pockets from the rocks. Felt real good, like the NMT grind actually paid off big time for once. It’s pure luck finding it, honestly, but when you do? Chef’s kiss. Totally worth the effort.
