Okay, so I kept hearing about this Speedflex thing, you know? Saw some stuff online, maybe saw Patrick Mahomes’ name attached to it, and got curious. Like, what’s this workout he supposedly does? Sounded different, not just lifting heavy iron.

So, I decided I gotta check this out myself. Finding a place with these Speedflex machines wasn’t super easy, gotta be honest. They aren’t like, on every street corner. Took some searching online, calling around a few gyms. Finally found one kinda near me, so I booked an intro session.
Walked into the place, and these machines looked… interesting. Not your usual treadmills or weight stacks. More like these stations with different handles and setups. The instructor guy showed me the ropes. Explained how it works – basically, the harder you push or pull, the more resistance it gives back, but it only moves as fast as you move it. No weights crashing down or anything.
My First Go At It
Alright, time to actually try it. They put me through a circuit. Different machines, different movements. Think stuff like:
- Pushing movements, kinda like a chest press.
- Pulling movements, like rows.
- Squatting type stuff.
- Some core work.
It felt weird at first. Because you’re pushing hard, but there’s no impact, no jarring feeling. It’s smooth. The resistance is there the whole time, pulling back and pushing forward. That’s the unique part, I guess. You’re working muscles both ways constantly.
Man, it got tough fast. Even though there’s no heavy weight, because you’re constantly under tension, my heart rate shot up. I was sweating buckets pretty quick. It felt like a serious workout, no doubt about it. Finished the circuit, felt pretty gassed, like after a good hard session.
The Day After: Soreness Check
Now, the big thing they kept talking about was ‘no muscle soreness’. I was skeptical. Usually, after trying something new or pushing hard, I feel it the next day. You know, that ache getting out of bed?
Woke up the next morning… and honestly? Felt pretty good. Like, surprisingly good. Not totally fresh as a daisy, I knew I’d worked out, but none of that deep muscle ache I was expecting. That part actually seemed legit. I could walk down stairs normally, which is always the real test, right?
Sticking With It?
I went back a few more times. It’s definitely a different kind of workout. It’s intense, gets the heart rate up, works the muscles, but without that beating-up feeling you sometimes get from heavy lifting. It felt kinda efficient, hitting cardio and strength together in a short time.
Is it the magic bullet? Dunno. I still like my regular gym routine too. But I can see why someone like Mahomes, who needs to perform constantly without being wrecked by soreness, might use it. It’s good for high-intensity, low-impact work.
For me, it was a cool thing to try. Found it interesting how the machine adapts to you. If you’re looking for something different, especially if you hate that day-after muscle pain or want something easier on the joints, might be worth finding a place and giving Speedflex a shot. Just my two cents from trying it out myself.
