My Journey with the Ken Dietrich Thing
Okay, so I heard about this thing, some people were calling it the “Ken Dietrich” approach, maybe? Sounded kinda interesting, not like the usual crazy diets you see everywhere. More like a lifestyle tweak. I figured, what the heck, let’s give it a spin. Didn’t find a ton of info online, honestly, felt more like word-of-mouth stuff. So, I decided to just piece together what I thought it meant and roll with it.

First thing I did was clean out the pantry. Got rid of the super processed junk, you know, the chips, the cookies, the stuff you grab when you’re bored. Felt good, like a fresh start. Then I went shopping. Focused on whole foods, lots of veggies, some fruit, lean meats, eggs. Tried to keep it simple. Didn’t really have a strict meal plan, more like a list of ‘good stuff’ to stick to.
Here’s kinda what I aimed for daily:
- Started the day with eggs or some oatmeal. Something solid.
- Lunch was usually a big salad with chicken or fish, or leftovers from dinner.
- Dinner was often grilled meat or fish with a heap of roasted vegetables.
- Tried to drink a lot more water. Cut out the sugary drinks almost completely.
The first week was kinda rough, not gonna lie. Had cravings for sure, especially in the evening. Missed my usual snacks. It wasn’t about being super strict like counting every calorie, more about changing what I was eating. Instead of grabbing a candy bar, I’d grab an apple or a handful of nuts. Sometimes it worked, sometimes I slipped up. It happens, right?
Sticking With It (Mostly)
I tried to stick with this “Ken Dietrich” idea for a few weeks. The biggest change I noticed was probably my energy levels. Felt less sluggish in the afternoons. Maybe it was just eating less junk, who knows? Didn’t see a massive change on the scale, maybe a pound or two down, but that wasn’t really my main goal anyway. I was more curious about how I’d feel.
Social situations were a bit tricky. Going out to eat meant trying to find something that fit the general idea, which wasn’t always easy. Sometimes you just gotta live a little and have the pizza, you know? I tried not to beat myself up about it. It wasn’t a rigid set of rules I was following, more like a guideline I set for myself based on this vague “Ken Dietrich” concept I’d heard about.

So yeah, that was my experience trying out that approach. It basically boiled down to eating cleaner, simpler foods and cutting back on the processed stuff. Nothing earth-shattering, but it felt like a sensible way to eat. Whether it’s actually a “Ken Dietrich” method or just common sense, who knows? But it got me thinking more about what I put in my body, and that’s probably a good thing.
