Okay, so, today I tried to do this crossword puzzle, and the clue was “annoying types”. At first, I was like, “What the hell is that?” I mean, a crossword clue is supposed to give you a hint to figure out the answer, and then you put it in the grid. But they’re not always just simple definitions, sometimes they use puns, anagrams, or other wordplay stuff.
So, I started by thinking about words that mean the same thing as “annoy”. I knew a few, like “harass”, “pester”, and “tease”. I tried to remember some others and finally came up with “plague” and “harry”.
Then I started digging around to see what other people had come up with when they searched for this clue. It turned out that a lot of folks were just as confused as me. My Solution Process
First, I wrote down all the synonyms for “annoy” that I could think of. Then, I looked at the possible answers and tried to see if any of my synonyms matched up. I also considered the number of letters in each answer, to see if it would fit in the puzzle grid.
Finally, after a bit of brainstorming and checking things out, I think I narrowed it down. I believe for the crossword clue “Annoying types,” the answers are likely going to be VEXERS, TWERPS, or PESTS. It all depends on how many letters you need for that specific puzzle.
Anyway, that’s how I spent part of my day, messing around with this crossword clue. It was a bit of a head-scratcher, but it was kind of fun to figure it out. Maybe I’ll try another one tomorrow!
