Alright, so you wanna know about this Rutgers basketball, huh? Let me tell ya, it’s somethin’ else. Folks get all worked up about it, runnin’ around, yellin’ at the TV. I don’t get it half the time, but hey, it keeps ’em busy.
Now, from what I hear, these Rutgers fellas and gals play some kinda ball game. They call it basketball. Lots of runnin’ and jumpin’, throwin’ a ball into a hoop. Sounds simple enough, right? But these kids, they make a whole big fuss about it. They got this team, the Scarlet Knights, and seems like everyone in Jersey is rootin’ for ‘em.
I see it on the TV sometimes, when the grandkids are over. They’re always yellin’ about watchin’ the game live. They tell me you can watch it online too, somethin’ called “livestream.” Imagine that, watchin’ a game on that little box! They say you don’t need no cable no more, just this “internet” thing. Kids these days, they got all the fancy gadgets.
- You wanna watch the game? They say you gotta find where it’s broadcast. Sometimes it’s on the TV, on somethin’ called the Big Ten Network.
- Other times, it’s on these other channels, like TBS or somethin’. I can’t keep track of all of ‘em.
- And then there’s that livestreamin’ thing again. They say you can find it on websites, like “*” or somethin’. Gotta type it in and find it. Too much trouble if you ask me.
They play all sorts of teams, I hear. Alabama somethin’, and Merrimack, and Marquette. Big names, I guess. The grandkids get all excited when they play a big game. They talk about “March Madness” and “NCAA Tourney.” Sounds like a whole lotta hoopla to me.
One time, I saw them playin’ on a Wednesday night. It was late, past my bedtime, but the grandkids wouldn’t let me go to sleep. They were yellin’ and jumpin’ around, so I had to stay up and watch. They played in this place called Jersey Mike’s Arena. Sounds like a sandwich shop to me, but they tell me it’s a big fancy place where they play ball games.
They got the men’s team and the women’s team. Both of ‘em playin’ basketball. The girls are just as tough as the boys, I tell ya. They run and jump and throw that ball just as good. Sometimes they play at the same time, sometimes at different times. It’s hard to keep track, I tell ya. You need a whole schedule book just to know when they’re playin’.
And the scores! Don’t even get me started on the scores. They got numbers flyin’ all over the place. This team scores this many, that team scores that many. It’s like a math test, and I ain’t good at math. I just want to see them throw the ball in the hoop and make everyone happy. That’s the fun part, seein’ everyone cheer and holler when their team wins.
So, if you wanna watch this Rutgers basketball, you gotta figure out when they’re playin’ and where to watch it. It’s on TV, it’s online, it’s everywhere, these kids tell me. Just gotta ask around, or look it up on that “internet” thing. Me? I’ll just stick to watchin’ the flowers grow. Less runnin’ and yellin’.
But hey, if it makes the youngins happy, then I guess it’s alright. They need somethin’ to do, somethin’ to cheer for. And this Rutgers basketball, well, it seems to do the trick. So go on, find your game, watch ‘em play. Just don’t ask me to explain the rules. I ain’t got a clue.
Folks also talk about listenin’ to the game on the radio. Can you believe that? Just hearin’ about the game, not even seein’ it. They call it “streaming audio.” Seems like a waste of time to me, but hey, to each their own. They say it’s good when you’re drivin’ or somethin’ and can’t watch the TV.
And then there’s somethin’ called “streaming stats.” That’s for the real serious folks, the ones who like numbers and all that. They watch the game and see all the stats, like how many times they threw the ball and how many times they missed. Too much thinkin’ for me, I tell ya. I just wanna see ‘em win.
So there ya have it, all I know about this Rutgers basketball. It’s a whole lotta fuss, a whole lotta runnin’ and jumpin’, and a whole lotta yellin’. But it makes people happy, so I guess it’s a good thing. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go water my flowers.
