Okay, so today, I wanna talk about getting those Iron Banner armor sets in Destiny 2. It’s a bit of a grind, but I’ve done it, and I’m here to share my experience and how I went about it.
First off, I jumped straight into the Iron Banner playlist when it became available. The event only lasts for a week, starting and ending with the weekly reset, so I knew I had to make the most of it. Every match I played rewarded me with tokens, even when I lost, which was pretty cool. I made sure to play as much as I could during that week.
While playing, I also picked up those Iron Banner bounties from Lord Saladin. These bounties were crucial because completing them gave me either pinnacle armor or weapons. I tried to do all the bounties on all my characters, but man, it was time-consuming! I focused on completing them efficiently, combining objectives where possible to save some time.
After getting a bunch of tokens, I went back to Lord Saladin in the Tower to turn them in. Each time I turned in tokens, I got a random drop of Iron Banner gear. It was a bit of a gamble, hoping to get the armor pieces I needed to complete the sets. I focused engrams as many times as I could to get specific pieces that I didn’t yet have in my collection. This took a lot of Legendary Shards, though, like, it took 100 Legendary Shards and 20 Glimmer for each focus. I tried to keep a reserve of Legendary Shards on me so I could focus on one or two pieces each time Iron Banner came around.
I also kept an eye on my Iron Banner Rank. It felt like I had to go through a mini-marathon with those 16 ranks, split into Guardian, Brave, Heroic, Fabled, Mythic, and finally Legend. But hitting those ranks was worth it. When I finally reached Legend, I could reset my rank and grab an Ascendant Shard, which was a nice bonus for upgrading my gear.
To maximize my reputation gains, I tried to wear at least five pieces of Iron Banner gear during matches. Sometimes I’d use four armor pieces and an Iron Banner weapon, or just go full armor. This boosted my reputation points significantly, helping me rank up faster. It took a while, but I managed to get full sets for my Warlock, Titan, and Hunter. Each set looked awesome, and having them made the grind feel worth it.
The Results
- Complete Sets: After grinding through several Iron Banner events, I finally got complete armor sets for all three of my characters. It was a relief to see them in my collection.
- Rank Resets: I managed to reset my Iron Banner rank multiple times, earning a few Ascendant Shards along the way. These were super useful for upgrading my other gear.
- Lessons Learned: I realized that managing time and focusing on bounties efficiently was key. Also, having a good stock of Legendary Shards helped a lot with focusing engrams for specific gear pieces.
So, that’s my journey to getting those Iron Banner armor sets. It was tough, but seeing the complete sets and knowing I earned them through all those matches made it all worthwhile. If you’re thinking about going for these sets, just be prepared for the grind and make sure to make the most of the event when it’s around!
