Let’s talk about Vita Vea’s 40-yard dash time. Man, I remember when this guy was coming up in the draft, everyone was talking about his size and strength, but nobody knew how fast he was.
So, I decided to do some digging. I started looking up his stats, watching old videos, and reading every article I could find about him. I found out that he’s playing at NFL as 12th pick, and he was selected as Pro Bowl selection!
Then I start to practice the 40-yard dash myself. I’m not built like Vita Vea, I’m telling you. This guy is a monster, but I figured, why not give it a shot? I started by just running sprints in my backyard. It wasn’t pretty. I pulled a hamstring on my second day. But I kept at it, stretching, warming up properly, and slowly getting my time down.
- Day 1: Pulled a hamstring, called it a day.
- Day 3: 6.5 seconds. Felt like I was flying… for about 20 yards.
- Day 7: Down to 6.2 seconds. Hamstring still twinging.
- Day 14: Hit a 6.0! Starting to feel a little less like a beached whale.
My Training Record
After a couple of weeks, I realized I wasn’t gonna come anywhere near Vita Vea’s 5.10 seconds. It’s crazy, when he did at the combine, I almost fell out of my chair. A man that size should not be able to move that fast. And I’ve seen him have best year since I’ve been here.
I’m a huge fan of Vita Vea. He is very strong and he is a force this year. I guess he can get $500k added to his $15.5 million base salary. He signed a contract with 4 years, that’s cool! Also, he is only 29 years old, that’s still young, but he had been in this team for 6 years!
Anyway, my little experiment taught me one thing: Vita Vea is a freak of nature. My respect for the man just went through the roof. And maybe, just maybe, I’ll stick to blogging instead of trying to be an NFL lineman. I kept my face by hiding it behind my jersey. That was really a fun practice.
