Man, today I decided to give this “vigor crossword” thing a shot. I’ve heard people talk about it, how it’s supposed to be some brain workout, so I figured why not?
I started by looking at all the clues, you know, not just going from the first one. Some of them were pretty easy, like those fill-in-the-blank ones. Those are usually just common knowledge stuff, so I got a few of those down right away. It felt good, like I was actually making some progress.
Start With Easy Clues
- Checked out all the clues first.
- Knocked out some of the easier fill-in-the-blank ones.
Then things got a little tougher. I saw that some clues had different words that all meant about the same thing, like “extend,” “lengthen,” “prolong,” and “protract.” They all mean to make something longer, but in different ways, like in space or time. Some even meant making something wider or broader in some way. That got me thinking a bit more carefully about each word and which one fit best in the puzzle.
Thinking About Word Meanings
- Realized different words can mean similar things but have different uses.
- Spent some time figuring out which word fit best in each spot.
I also read somewhere that these crosswords get harder as the week goes on. Like, Mondays are the easiest, and Saturdays are supposed to be a real pain. And Sundays? That’s a whole different beast with a bigger puzzle. Knowing that made me feel a little better about struggling with some of the clues. It’s not just me; it’s designed to be a challenge.
Understanding the Difficulty Levels
- Learned that the puzzles get harder throughout the week.
- Felt better about struggling, knowing it’s supposed to be tough.
I spent a good chunk of time on this thing, looking up answers, trying different words, and even looking back to see the last time some clues were used. I found out that there could be a ton of different answers for just one clue, like one clue had 42 possible answers! It was a bit overwhelming, but also kind of cool to see how many different ways you could solve it.
Looking Up Answers and Trying Different Things
- Spent time searching for answers online.
- Tried fitting in different words to see what worked.
- Realized there can be a bunch of answers for one clue.
After a while, I started to get the hang of it. It was like a little puzzle-solving adventure, and even though I didn’t finish the whole thing, I felt like I accomplished something. I learned about different meanings of words, how to look for clues in different ways, and that these puzzles are meant to be challenging. It was definitely a good way to stretch my brain a bit, and I might even try it again tomorrow. Maybe I’ll even tackle that big Sunday puzzle eventually. Who knows?
Getting the Hang of It
- Started to feel more comfortable with the process.
- Learned a few things along the way.
- Felt a sense of accomplishment, even without finishing.
- Thinking about trying it again and maybe even doing the Sunday puzzle someday.
Yeah, that was my crossword adventure for today. It was tougher than I thought, but also kind of fun. I might not be a pro yet, but I’m getting there.
