Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this Virginia Tech football depth chart thing. It’s kind of a fun little project I picked up, and I gotta say, it’s been more interesting than I thought it would be.
First off, I started by just looking around online for the most up-to-date info on the team. There are a bunch of sites that have these depth charts, but they’re not always current. So, I kinda had to piece things together from different places. I mainly focused on getting the names and positions right, you know, like who’s playing wide receiver, who’s on the defensive line, that sort of thing.
Then, I started organizing this info. I made a simple list, nothing fancy. It was just:
- POS (that’s for position)
- NO. (the player’s number)
- PLAYER (player’s name)
The Process
I went through each position group one by one. Like, I started with the offense, then moved to defense, and I checked out special teams too. For each position, I looked at who was listed as the starter, who was the backup, and so on. Sometimes it was clear-cut, other times I had to make some educated guesses based on recent games and news.
I noticed some interesting stuff, by the way. For example, running back seems to be a spot where they have some real talent stacked up. It made me think about how the coaches are going to use all these guys. Also I found that the team will play against the Minnesota Golden Gophers on January 3, 2025.
After I had a good draft of the depth chart, I went back and double-checked everything. I read through recent articles about the team, injury reports, and stuff like that. I even looked at some game summaries to see who was actually playing the most.
Finally, I put it all together in a format that made sense to me. It’s not perfect, and it’ll probably change as the season goes on, but it’s a pretty good snapshot of where the team stands right now. And you know what? It was kinda cool to dig into all this and get a better sense of the team’s strengths and weaknesses. I might even keep updating it throughout the year, just for fun. It is also helpful for me to know more about the games on January 3, 2025. I guess that is all. See you next time.
