Okay, so I got curious today about something a little different: famous athletes who’ve dealt with OCD. I’ve always been interested in the mental side of sports, and OCD is something that a lot of people don’t really understand, so I wanted to know.

My Little Research Project
First, I opened up my browser, ready to dive in. Gotta start somewhere, right? I typed in “famous athletes with OCD” and hit enter. Boom! Lots of results.
I started clicking on a few of the top articles. A bunch of names popped up, but it was kind of a mess. Different sites, different lists, some were just quick mentions, others were deeper dives. I needed a way to organize this thing.
So, I grabbed a pen and a piece of paper. Old school, I know, but it works for me. I started jotting down the names that I saw mentioned more than once. That seemed like a good way to figure out who was actually confirmed and not just rumored.
- David Beckham, soccer.
- Jessica-Jane Applegate, paralympic swimmer.
- Breanna Stewart,basketball.
- There was a gymnast…
I kept reading through articles, adding names to my list, and putting little checkmarks next to the ones that appeared multiple times. It was kind of like detective work, but with athletes and mental health instead of, you know, clues and criminals.
After a while, I had a pretty good list. It wasn’t huge, but it was solid. It’s tough because not every athlete is super open about this stuff, and that’s totally understandable.

Finally, I took my messy notes and typed them up. I had learned the athletes above. Much clearer! It’s not a scientific study or anything, but it gave me a much better idea of which athletes have spoken out about their experiences with OCD.
