Alright, listen up, y’all. We’re gonna talk about some basketball players, the ones who use their left hand like it’s the only hand God gave ’em. You know, those lefty fellas.
Now, I ain’t no expert, but I heard tell there ain’t too many of ’em in that there NBA. Someone said somethin’ about only 342 lefty players ever. That ain’t a whole lot, is it? Heck, my little town’s got more chickens than that!
But the ones that do make it, well, some of them are pretty darn good. Like that fella, Bill Russell. Folks say he was a real winner. Won somethin’ like 11 championships. Eleven! Can you believe that? And five of them MVP things. I guess that means he was the best player around, five times over. He played center, you know, the big fella in the middle. And they say being a lefty helped him be a real tough one to play against, like a brick wall you just couldn’t move. He scored points too, about 15 a game, but he was really good at grabbin’ them rebounds, 22 and a half a game they say. That’s a lot of rebounds, like grabbin’ apples off a tree, only the tree is movin’ and the apples are orange and bouncy.
- Eleven Championships!
- Five MVP Awards!
- Over 22 Rebounds per game!
Then there’s others, I seen some pictures. One fella, Derek Fisher, they said he was good too. And another one, Manu Ginobili, with a funny name and a bald head. They all look like they know what they’re doin’ with that ball. There’s even a whole list of ’em, 50 greatest lefty players, someone made. Imagine that, 50 of ’em! Must’ve been hard work findin’ all them lefties.
Now, I heard about this big fella, Shaq. He wasn’t a lefty in basketball, but they say he picked up a hockey stick like a lefty. Maybe if he played basketball with his left hand, he woulda made more of them free throws. He wasn’t too good at those, you know. But he was a big strong fella, like a bull in a china shop, but with a basketball.
So, why ain’t there more lefties? I don’t know. Maybe it’s just the way things are. Like some folks are born with blue eyes and some with brown. Some folks like sweet tea and some like it unsweet. And some folks, well, they just like usin’ their left hand to throw that basketball. And when they do, sometimes, they turn out to be real good at it, like those fellas I was tellin’ you about.
It’s kinda like when you plant corn, some stalks grow taller than others. Some just get more sun, I guess. Maybe these lefty players, they just got a different kind of sun shinin’ on ’em, a lefty kind of sun. Makes ’em special, makes ’em stand out. And that’s alright by me. As long as they can put that ball in the hoop, that’s all that matters.
So, next time you watchin’ one of them basketball games, keep an eye out for them lefty fellas. They might not be as common as the righties, but they sure can play. And who knows, maybe one day, one of them will be the best player in the whole wide world. Stranger things have happened, you know.
Famous Left-Handed Basketball Players are a special bunch, and they deserve a little bit of our attention. They might be a little different, but that’s what makes them great. Just like my prize-winning tomatoes, a little bit different from the others, but sweeter and tastier than the whole bunch. And that’s all I got to say about that.
