Okay, here’s my story about “toomers corner rolled”, hope you like it:
So, the other day, I was reading up on some quirky traditions, and I stumbled upon this thing called “Toomer’s Corner Rolled.” Sounds wild, right? I got curious and decided to dig a little deeper. Turns out, it’s this thing they do at Auburn University after big sports wins, especially football. I figured, why not try to do something similar? I wanted to experience some parts of this event.
First, I went out and bought a bunch of toilet paper rolls. I remember when I was at the local drug store and I saw some of the employees throwing the ticker tape from the telegraph onto the power lines during away football games. I’m not sure when they started throwing toilet paper, but it seemed like way more fun. And I didn’t want to mess with any telegraphs or power lines, so I figured, toilet paper is the way to go.
Next, I needed a “corner.” I don’t live near Auburn, so I picked a spot in my backyard – a couple of big oak trees that seemed perfect. They were nothing like those famous oaks at Toomer’s Corner, but hey, they’d do. I found out those trees at Toomer’s were poisoned once. I mean, who does that? Anyway, my trees were safe and sound.
Then, the waiting game. I needed a reason to celebrate, something like Auburn winning a game. I wasn’t about to wait for a football game, so I decided any small victory would work. Finally, I managed to fix that annoying leaky faucet in my bathroom – victory! It was time. And there was news talking about the building where Toomer’s is located was in great need of restoration. I can’t imagine how those guys would feel. But I was still having fun with my own thing.
I grabbed the toilet paper and started throwing it over the tree branches. It was harder than it looked! Half the rolls didn’t make it over, and the ones that did got all tangled up. But, after a while, I got the hang of it. My trees were draped in white, looking like something out of a weird winter wonderland.
Honestly, it was a pretty good time. I felt like a kid again, making a mess and not caring. Plus, it was kind of a cool way to celebrate a small win. I get why they do it at Auburn now, although I’m sure it’s a much bigger spectacle there with the whole community involved.
- What I learned:
- Toilet paper is surprisingly hard to throw accurately.
- Celebrating small victories is always fun.
- Old traditions can be a blast, even when you’re doing them alone in your backyard.
So, that’s my little adventure with trying to recreate the Toomer’s Corner roll. It was messy, a little silly, but totally worth it. Maybe next time I’ll get some friends involved, or maybe I’ll just keep it as my own little victory celebration ritual.
