Okay, so today I wanted to tackle this crossword clue that I saw in the New York Times: “Tennis star Alcaraz”. I’m not a huge crossword person, but I’ve been trying to get into them a bit more lately. And I do follow tennis a little, so I thought, “Hey, I might actually know this one!”
First, I tried to rack my brain. I knew I’d seen Alcaraz’s name in the news, he’s been doing pretty well lately, right? But the first name… it just wouldn’t come to me. So, step one was a bit of a fail. On to step two!
Next, I started Googling. I typed in “Tennis star Alcaraz” and a bunch of articles came up. Lots of stuff about recent matches, his rankings, you name it. But I was looking for crossword answers, so I added “nyt crossword” to my search. That narrowed it down.
- I started seeing a bunch of these crossword solver websites. You know, the kind that has databases of clues and answers. Seemed promising!
- Clicked on a few of them, and they all seemed to agree that this clue had been in the New York Times crossword a few times recently, mostly around June 5th or 6th, 2024. They all had the same answer.
Most of these sites had the same info, which is good, and I clicked on many of them just to be sure that they are the same and verified. I’m so happy it’s not a scam, lol.
Finally, I got the answer! The sites were all pointing to “CARLOS”. Makes sense, right? It was right there in front of me the whole time, but I guess I needed that little nudge. I felt pretty good about figuring it out, even if I had to look it up.
So, that’s my little adventure with the “Tennis star Alcaraz” crossword clue. It wasn’t exactly a Herculean task, but it was a fun little challenge. And hey, I learned something new today, or at least, I reinforced something I already kind of knew. Maybe I’ll try another crossword tomorrow. We’ll see! It’s quite interesting, right?
