Alright, let’s talk about this Taylor Swift and football thing. I’ve been hearin’ all sorts of chatter about it, and lemme tell ya, it’s a whole heap of fuss.
Is this gal, this Taylor Swift, is she really messin’ up football? That’s what folks are squawkin’ about. Now, I don’t know much about fancy singers or their boyfriends, but I do know a thing or two about watchin’ the game on a Sunday afternoon.
Some folks sayin’ she’s bringin’ in new eyeballs to the game, all them young girls and such. They sayin’ more women are watchin’ now ’cause of her. Well, that ain’t necessarily a bad thing, is it? More folks watchin’, more money comin’ in, that’s what I hear. They’re sayin’ female viewership went up by nine percent this year. Nine percent! That’s a lot of new folks watchin’ fellas runnin’ around with a pigskin.
- More viewers mean more money, that’s just plain sense.
- More women watchin’, maybe they’ll start understandin’ why we yell at the TV so much.
But then there’s this other bunch, grumblin’ and moanin’ about how she’s takin’ away from the game. They sayin’ the players are distracted, that the cameras are always on her instead of the game. I saw somethin’ about some players not likin’ her bein’ around. Now, I ain’t sure about all that. Seems to me, them fellas ought to be focused on playin’ ball, no matter who’s in the stands. But then again, I ain’t never played in front of thousands of folks and a famous singer.
They did some kind of survey, askin’ the players what they thought. Most of ’em, like seventy-some percent, said it was a good thing, her bein’ around. A few said it was bad, and some others were in the middle. So, it ain’t like everyone’s hatin’ on her, that’s for sure. Only a few of them players, somethin’ like five percent, said it was negative.
And then there’s all this talk about how much attention she’s gettin’. They sayin’ she’s gettin’ more airtime than the game itself sometimes. Well, I guess that’s what happens when you got a big star datin’ a football player. It’s like puttin’ two shiny things together, folks are gonna look, ain’t they?
They also talkin’ about how much money this whole thing is bringin’ in. Somethin’ about her gettin’ the NFL a whole lot of exposure, like ten times more than a Super Bowl commercial. That’s a lot of eyeballs, and a lot of money, I reckon. They’re sayin’ the NFL woulda had to pay a whole lot of money to get that kind of attention.
Now, this Taylor Swift, she’s got her own thing goin’ on, singin’ songs and whatnot. They sayin’ she uses her fame to talk about important stuff, social and political things. And that she’s got a big impact on folks all over the world, givin’ ’em music and standin’ up for things she believes in. So, maybe she’s not just some pretty face, maybe she’s got somethin’ to say.
So, is she ruinin’ football? I don’t reckon so. It seems to me like she’s just bringin’ somethin’ new to the table. Maybe it’s good, maybe it’s bad, maybe it’s just different. But folks are talkin’, and that’s what matters, right? They’re sayin’ the “Taylor Swift effect” on the NFL is real. Some folks are sayin’ it’s wild how much she’s impacted the game. Well, maybe it’s just a sign of the times changin’. Things ain’t always gonna stay the same, and maybe that’s alright. As long as them boys keep playin’ good football, I ain’t complainin’. And if a few more folks tune in ’cause of some singer, well, that’s just more folks to share the excitement with, I say.
But at the end of the day, it’s just a game. And games are meant to be enjoyed, ain’t they? So, let’s not get too worked up about it. Let’s just watch the game, cheer for our team, and maybe tap our toes to a Taylor Swift song or two. It ain’t gonna hurt nobody.
And honestly, all this fuss about one woman? Seems like folks got too much time on their hands if you ask me. But then again, nobody ever asks me nothin’!
