Alright, so the other day, this question just popped into my head: did Boomer Esiason ever actually win a Super Bowl? I remember watching him play, seemed like a big deal back then, especially with the Bengals.

So, what I did was, I sat down at my computer, you know, got comfortable. Opened up my web browser – the usual routine. Then I just typed it straight into the search bar, something simple like “Boomer Esiason Super Bowl win”.
Hit enter and waited for the results to load up. Lots of articles and stats pages came back, as you’d expect. I started scrolling through the first few links. Saw mentions of the Cincinnati Bengals, obviously, and Super Bowl XXIII kept coming up.
Digging into the Details
Okay, so I clicked on one or two of the more reliable-looking sources, like sports stats sites or major news archives. Reading through the summaries, it became clear pretty quick.
- He definitely played in a Super Bowl. That was Super Bowl XXIII.
- His team was the Cincinnati Bengals.
- They played against the San Francisco 49ers.
But here’s the key part I was looking for: they didn’t win. The 49ers won that game. It was apparently a really close one, decided pretty late in the game, which maybe is why I had that fuzzy memory of almost winning or something.
I also saw that Esiason actually won the NFL MVP award for that 1988 season leading up to the Super Bowl. So, he had a fantastic year, just couldn’t cap it off with the championship ring.

So, yeah, went through the search results, checked a couple of places to be sure. The consensus was clear. Great player, MVP season, got to the big game, but no Super Bowl victory as a starting quarterback.
That settled it for me. Just wanted to share how I looked that up. It’s easy to get these things mixed up over time!
