Alright, listen up, y’all. We gonna talk about this here Yankees and White Sox game, you know, the baseball. I ain’t no expert, but I can tell ya what I saw and heard, and some other things I found out. It’s all about them stats, the numbers they use to say who’s good and who ain’t. Don’t ask me how they figure it all out, it’s just numbers, ya know?
So, these Yankees and White Sox, they been playin’ each other. I heard on the TV, CBS Sports was talkin’ about it, sayin’ who was scorin’ and all that. Then there was somethin’ about a “box score” from August 14th. Sounded fancy, but it just tells you who hit the ball and who caught it, and who ran around the bases. Simple as that.
Now, I hear these White Sox, they ain’t doin’ so hot. Folks are sayin’ they got one of the worst records ever, somethin’ like 38 wins and 120 losses. That’s a whole lotta losin’! Heard they even lost 21 games in a row one time. My goodness, that’s gotta hurt! They say it’s almost as bad as them 1916 Athletics, whoever they were. Sounded like a long, long time ago.
- Heard about this fella, Gavin Sheets. Seems he plays for the White Sox. They say he hit the ball real good one game, got four hits and four RBIs. Good for him, I say.
- Then there’s talk of some other guys, Korey Lee and Brooks Baldwin, hitting home runs. That’s when they hit the ball real far, over the fence, ya know? Always excitin’ when that happens.
The Yankees, they seem to be doin’ a bit better. I saw somethin’ about them beatin’ the White Sox 10 to 2 one day, and then another time 12 to 2. Seems like they been whuppin’ ‘em good. They got some history too, them Yankees. Heard about this fella, Derek Jeter? They say he got more hits than anyone, thousands of ‘em! Lou Gehrig was another one, lots of hits too. Musta been some good players back in the day.
But baseball ain’t just about winnin’ and losin’, it’s about them numbers, the stats. They got all sorts of them. Batting averages, that’s how often they hit the ball. RBIs, that’s how many runs they bring in. Home runs, we already talked about that. And then there’s stuff for the pitchers too, like ERA, how many runs they let in. It’s enough to make your head spin, I tell ya!
Anyways, they keep track of all this stuff every game. You can find it all online, I hear. Places like Baseball-Reference, they got it all. You wanna know how many times a fella struck out, or how many bases he stole, it’s all there. Just gotta know where to look, and maybe understand all them fancy numbers. Which, I’ll be honest, I don’t always get.
So, if you’re watchin’ the game, or just hearin’ about it on the radio, pay attention to them stats. They tell a story, even if it’s a story told in numbers. And remember, even if your team is losin’ like them White Sox, there’s always another game, another chance to get some good hits and maybe even win one. That’s what makes it interestin’, I guess. You just never know what’s gonna happen.
One more thing I heard, they was playin’ again on August 15th. Don’t know who won that one yet, but I bet you can find them stats somewhere if you go lookin’. And that’s the story, as far as I can tell ya, about these Yankees and White Sox and all them numbers they got.
