Alright, let’s talk about watching this wrestler, Santos Escobar. It’s been quite something seeing his path unfold over the years.

First Noticing Him
I first really clocked him, I think, way back when he was under a mask. El Hijo del Fantasma, that was the name. Saw some of his stuff, maybe in Lucha Underground or somewhere like that. He moved well, had that classic lucha style but felt a bit different. You could tell there was something more there, even with the mask on. He carried himself with a certain confidence.
The NXT Chapter
Then, boom, he pops up in NXT. The cruiserweight tournament was going on. That’s when things got really interesting for me, watching his story develop. The big moment was him winning the title and then ditching the mask. Said it wasn’t his legacy, but his father’s. That felt like a big shift.
He didn’t waste time. Pulled together that group, Legado Del Fantasma. Remember that? It was:
- Joaquin Wilde
- Cruz Del Toro (Raul Mendoza back then, I think)
- Later added Elektra Lopez
They had a cool look, real smooth operators. Escobar was clearly the leader, the brain. He did the talking, smooth and dangerous. They ran things in the cruiserweight scene for a good bit. Watching them operate as a unit, taking control, it was solid stuff. You saw him grow from just a good wrestler into a real character, a leader.
Moving Up and Changes
Eventually, they got the call up to the main roster, SmackDown. That’s always a big test, seeing how guys adapt. They brought Zelina Vega in with them initially, which was an interesting twist. Felt like they were trying to find the right spot for them.

The biggest turn recently, for me watching, was the whole thing with Rey Mysterio and the LWO (Latino World Order). Seemed like a good fit at first, joining forces with a legend like Rey. They were all working together, fighting against Judgment Day and others. It felt like a positive step, bringing that group back.
The Turn and Now
But man, things change fast. Watched it happen – the turn. Escobar going against Rey. Accusing Rey of holding him back, or something like that. It was dramatic, attacking Rey like that. Now he’s kind of reformed his own thing, going against the LWO he was just part of. It’s made him a proper bad guy again.
So yeah, following Santos Escobar’s career has been a journey. From masked luchador, to NXT kingpin, to LWO member, and now this bitter rival. He knows how to talk, knows how to work in the ring, and he keeps changing things up. Definitely one of the guys I keep an eye on to see what he does next. It’s been a ride just watching him perform and evolve.
