Okay, folks, let’s dive into my experience with the Ranni questline in Elden Ring. It was a wild ride, I tell you!

So, I started out like most people, I guess. I met Ranni at the Church of Elleh early on. She gave me the Spirit Calling Bell, which was super helpful, of course. But I didn’t really think much of it at the time.
Later, I stumbled upon Ranni’s Rise, one of those fancy towers in Liurnia. I went inside, and there she was again, this time looking a bit…different. It became clear that she was much more involved than i first thought. She asked me to serve her, and, well, who am I to refuse a mysterious, four-armed doll lady?
The Real Adventure Begins
This is where things got interesting. Ranni tasked me with finding the hidden treasure of Nokron, the Eternal City. Let me tell you, finding Nokron was a pain. I had to defeat Starscourge Radahn first, which, yeah, that was a whole ordeal in itself. I summoned a bunch of buddies, we wailed on him until he finally went down, and boom – a giant star fell from the sky and opened up the way to Nokron.
Nokron was amazing, though. So atmospheric and full of these weird, silver-tear enemies. I explored every nook and cranny, fought some tough bosses (Mimic Tear, anyone?), and eventually found the Fingerslayer Blade. That was the treasure Ranni was after.
Ainsel River and Beyond
Bringing the blade back to Ranni was just the beginning, really. She gave me the Carian Inverted Statue, which I used in the Carian Study Hall to flip the whole place upside down. Seriously, it was trippy. This opened up the path to the Ainsel River, another underground area even more messed up than the last.

- I rode that coffin down a waterfall.
- I picked up a miniature Ranni doll.
- I talked to the doll (yeah, it talks).
- I fought a Baleful Shadow that looked suspiciously like Blaidd.
It was all very strange, but I kept going. I made my way through the Lake of Rot, which, as the name suggests, was absolutely disgusting. I chugged so many flasks, I thought I’d turn into one myself.
The Grand Finale
After the Lake of Rot, I found the Grand Cloister and took on Astel, Naturalborn of the Void. It was a tough battle, but good dodging and some well-placed hits secured the win.
Finally, I reached the Moonlight Altar, a beautiful area high above Liurnia. I fought my way through some more enemies, found a dragon guarding a church (because of course), and then… I found Ranni again, in a very, very different situation. I won’t spoil the exact details, but let’s just say it involved a ring, a very dead two fingers, and a whole lot of lore implications.
In the end, I helped Ranni achieve her goals, and I even got a cool ending out of it (the Age of Stars ending, if you’re curious). It was a long, confusing, and sometimes frustrating quest, but it was also one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had in a game. The atmosphere, the characters, the lore… it all came together to create something truly special. And the Dark Moon Greatsword is pretty good too!
