Okay, so I decided to put together a little something based on Grand Theft Auto 5 the other day. Been playing that game on and off for ages, like everyone else, right? And I thought, hey, it might be fun to test out how much random stuff I actually remembered. So, a quiz it was.

Getting Started: The Idea
It really just popped into my head. I was thinking about Los Santos, the characters, all the crazy missions. Felt like a good way to, you know, engage with the game again without actually firing up the console immediately. Plus, I figured others might get a kick out of testing their own knowledge too.
Gathering the Brain Food: Questions!
This was the first real step. I grabbed a notepad – yeah, old school – and just started scribbling down ideas. What came to mind first?
- Characters: Michael, Franklin, Trevor, obviously. But also side characters, like Lamar, Lester, maybe some antagonists.
- Missions: Tried to recall some memorable ones. Heists, specific crazy stunts, early game stuff, endgame stuff.
- Locations: Famous spots in Los Santos and Blaine County. Vinewood, the airport, Trevor’s desert hangout.
- Random Trivia: Little details. Radio stations, car names (or funny knock-off names), maybe some easter eggs I remembered.
I didn’t just rely on memory, though. Spent a bit of time browsing some fan wikis just to make sure I wasn’t completely making things up or getting details wrong. Wanted the questions to be fair, mostly.
Putting it Together: Structure and Tools
Once I had a decent list of potential questions, maybe around 20-25 ideas, I needed to structure it. Multiple choice felt like the easiest way to go. Keeps it simple, less hassle with people typing answers differently.
I decided on about 15 questions for the final quiz. Didn’t want it to be too long and drag on. Just a quick, fun challenge.

For actually making the quiz, I didn’t do anything complicated. No fancy coding or anything. I just used a basic online quiz maker tool. Found one that was pretty straightforward: type in the question, type in the right answer, type in a few wrong answers (distractors, I guess they call them?). Took a little while to input everything, but it wasn’t hard work.
Testing and Fixing: The Dry Run
Before I considered it done, I ran through it myself a few times. Then I got my cousin, who’s also played a ton of GTA 5, to give it a go. This was super helpful. He spotted a question that was worded a bit awkwardly and pointed out one answer that might have been technically debatable depending on how you looked at it.
So, I went back and tweaked the wording on a couple of questions, made sure the answers were clear-cut. Adjusted the difficulty slightly – made one question a tiny bit easier and another a bit harder, just for balance.
The Final Polish
Not much to polish, really. Just added a simple intro message like “Test your GTA 5 knowledge!” and a concluding bit showing the score. Kept the design plain, no distracting bells and whistles.
And that was pretty much it. From thinking about it to having a working little quiz took maybe an afternoon, broken up a bit. It was a fun little project, good way to revisit a game I enjoy without actually playing. Hope people find it amusing if they stumble across it.
