Okay, here’s my attempt at a blog post, following all your instructions:
So, I’ve been trying to get more distance on my drives lately. Everyone wants to hit the ball further, right? I started digging around online and found some stuff about average swing speeds on the PGA Tour, and man, was that eye-opening!
My Deep Dive into Swing Speed
First, I just Googled something like “average PGA Tour swing speed”. I found out that these pros are swinging at, like, 115 mph. Me? I’m nowhere near that. I’m probably closer to that amateur average which is, I think, 93.4 mph or something like that.
I realized there was this huge gap. And it’s not just for show. I learned that every extra 1 mph of swing speed can add, like, 3 yards to your drive. That’s nuts! So, the difference between me and a pro could be, like, 60 yards or more, just based on swing speed alone.
Getting to Work(out)
So, what did I do? Well, I didn’t just sit there. I started trying to figure out how to swing faster. This is what i did:
- Warming up properly: Turns out, just grabbing my driver and swinging for the fences isn’t the best approach. I started doing some stretches, you know, getting the blood flowing.
- Swinging practice clubs:I tried swinging harder, focusing on making a good, clean contact.
- Tried a few training aids: I’m not gonna lie, some of those things you see advertised look pretty gimmicky. But, some are good.
The Results (So Far)
Okay, I’m still not averaging 115 mph. Not even close. But, I have noticed a difference. My swing feels a little smoother, and I think I’m getting a few extra yards. I haven’t measured it exactly, but it feels longer. My drives are a little further for sure, and that’s good enough for me, and i’ll improve over time.
It’s a work in progress. But, understanding that swing speed difference between me and the pros, and actually doing something about it, is making a difference. I gotta keep at it!
