Alright, so I heard the buzz about a potential roster update dropping for MLB The Show 23 today. Naturally, I had to see what was cooking.

First thing I did was fire up the console. Waited for the dashboard to load, then navigated over to The Show 23 and booted it up. Takes a minute sometimes, you know how it is.
Getting into the Game
Once the main menu loaded, I took a quick look around. Sometimes they flash a message right there, big and bold, about new rosters. Didn’t see anything immediately obvious today, which isn’t unusual.
My next move is usually the same: head towards the settings or community sections. I think I went into the ‘Create’ tab first, then looked for ‘Roster Control’. That’s often where the magic happens.
Finding and Applying the Update
Inside ‘Roster Control’, there’s usually an option like ‘Load Rosters’ or ‘Save Rosters’. I clicked on ‘Load Rosters’. Then, you get the choice between your saved custom rosters and the ‘Live Rosters’. That’s the one you want.
Selected ‘Live Rosters’. The game then checks online. Sure enough, a little prompt popped up – something like ‘A new Live Roster update is available. Download now?’. Of course, I hit ‘Yes’.

Then came the waiting part. Just a small progress bar as it downloaded the latest data. Didn’t take too long on my connection today, maybe thirty seconds or so. Once it finished, it automatically applied them.
Checking the Changes
Verification time! This is key. You gotta make sure it actually loaded the new stuff. I usually do this a couple of ways:
- Go back into ‘Roster Control’ and just browse a few teams. Look for players who recently got moved, called up, or sent down. Or check the ratings of guys who’ve been on a hot or cold streak.
- Sometimes I’ll just check the date listed for the ‘Live Roster’ file itself in the save/load menu, make sure it matches today’s date or is very recent.
Everything looked current. Saw a few rating bumps I expected and some minor leaguers added to the 40-man rosters here and there. Seems like the update came through just fine.
So yeah, that was my process today for grabbing the latest MLB The Show 23 roster update. Simple enough once you know where to look. Now the game feels a bit more aligned with the real season again.
