Okay, so I’ve been playing fantasy basketball for a while now, and I always get a kick out of coming up with funny team names. This year, I’m all in on Jayson Tatum, so I figured I’d dedicate my team name to him. Let me walk you through how I brainstormed this.
First, I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen – yeah, I’m old school like that. I like to see things visually. I started by just writing down anything that came to mind related to Tatum. Things Like:
- Jayson Tatum
- Celtics
- Green
- Duke
- Scoring Machine
Then, I started messing around with these words, trying to find something punny or funny. I thought, “What rhymes with Tatum? What sounds kinda like his name?” I scribbled down some pretty awful ideas at first, I gotta admit. Stuff like “Tatum’s Takeover” and “Green Machine.” Nothing special.
But then I remembered a few names I’d seen online before, and that got the ball rolling. I started playing with those ideas and changing things around until I came up with a few pretty fun ones. I tried to make it a bit clever, you know? Something that would make people chuckle when they saw my team name in the league.

It took a bit of back and forth, crossing things out, and rewriting, but I finally landed on a few names I really liked. It was all about combining things, finding those little wordplays. My final favorites, after all that, ended up being:

- The Tatum Pole
- Jayson and the Tatum-nauts
I ended up choosing “Tatum Tots”. It’s just silly and it makes me laugh. Plus, it’s a bit of a play on words. I am so ready to play my fantasy basketball now!
