So, I wanted to mess around with MLB The Show 23 the other day. I mean, I’ve played baseball games before, but this one’s got all these settings, and I was curious about the difficulty levels. You know, like, how much pain do I want to put myself through?
First, I started the game, and went straight into the settings. I saw a bunch of options: Rookie, Veteran, All-Star, Hall of Fame… the usual suspects. Honestly, I’m not trying to be a pro gamer or anything. I just wanted to have some fun and hit some dingers without getting totally demolished every game.
Trying out the different settings
-
Rookie: Okay, this was way too easy. I was crushing the ball every at-bat. It felt like I was playing T-ball or something. Fun for a little while, but it got boring pretty quick.
-
Veteran: This felt a bit more realistic. Pitchers started throwing some actual heat, and I had to actually focus on my timing. Still, I was winning most games without too much trouble.
-
All-Star: Now we’re talking. This is where things got interesting. The AI was definitely smarter, and I had to be way more strategic with my hitting and pitching. I was winning some, losing some. It was a good challenge.
-
Hall of Fame: Whoa, this was brutal. I felt like I was facing prime Randy Johnson every single game. I could barely make contact with the ball, and my pitchers were getting lit up like a Christmas tree. I’m not gonna lie, I got humbled real quick. I think I’ll stay away from this level unless I wanna feel what’s like to be a rookie who just got called up from the minors.
But then, I stumbled upon this “Dynamic” setting. The game said it would adjust the difficulty based on how I was playing. It sounded pretty cool, so I gave it a shot. Basically, it starts you off at a certain level, and if you do well, it bumps you up. If you suck, it bumps you down. So, I turned it on and began playing games. At first, it was pretty easy, but when I started to win a couple of games, the difficulty went up. I eventually lost a game, and it went down a notch. This dynamic setting is super cool!
In the end, I had a blast messing around with the difficulty settings. I think I’ll stick with the dynamic setting for a while. It’s a great way to get a personalized challenge without feeling like I’m either playing on God mode or getting absolutely destroyed. If you’re playing MLB The Show 23, I definitely recommend giving it a try!
