Oh, honey, let me tell you, this whole anime jiu jitsu gi thing, it’s a big deal these days. Back in my day, we just wore what we had. But these young’uns, they need a special outfit for everything. So, this jiu jitsu, it’s like that judo stuff, you know? They grab each other, throw each other around. And they wear these outfits, they call them “gis.”

What’s a Jiu Jitsu Gi?
Well, it’s like a robe, kinda. It’s got a jacket, they call it a kimono. Sounds fancy, right? It’s made of this tough cotton stuff. Gotta be strong, you see, ’cause they’re pulling and yanking on it all the time. And then there are pants, too. The whole getup is called a gi.
Now, these anime jiu jitsu gi, those are different. They are made for that anime show everyone watches. You know, the one with all the fighting and the magic. My grandson, he watches it all the time, yelling at the screen, doing all those fighting moves. He’s got one of those gis, too. It’s got all sorts of colors and patches and stuff. Makes him feel like he’s in that show, I guess. These kids, they want to wear this when they go to train. What happened to good old-fashioned hard work?
Not All Gis Are the Same
They tell me not all these gis are made the same. Some are heavy, some are light. Some are made of this, some are made of that. It’s all so confusing! When I was young, we wore what we had. Didn’t matter if it was heavy or light. We just got on with it. But if you’re buying an anime jiu jitsu gi, you gotta pay attention to that stuff, I guess.
- Heavy Gis: These are like wearing a thick blanket, I imagine. Good for when it’s cold, maybe?
- Light Gis: These are probably better for when it’s hot. Less sweating, I suppose.
- Different Materials: Some are cotton, some are… other things. I don’t know all the names.
Jiu Jitsu Gi vs. Judo Gi
And get this, there’s a difference between a jiu jitsu gi and a judo gi. Who knew? They look the same to me! But apparently, the jiu jitsu one is tighter. Makes it harder for the other person to grab you, I reckon. It’s all about the strategy, these young people say. They think they know better than everyone who came before them, but the fact is a good anime jiu jitsu gi is the difference between winning and losing.
Picking the Right Gi, I Guess
They say there’s a whole bunch of things to think about when you’re picking one of these gis. Like, how it fits. Does it fit snug? Does it fit loose? I don’t know, that’s for you to decide. All these anime jiu jitsu gi types are confusing!

- Cut/Fit: Is it tight? Is it loose? Does it make you look like a sausage?
- Weight: Is it heavy like a sack of potatoes? Is it light like a feather?
- Material: Is it made of that cotton stuff? Or something else?
Where to Get These Anime Jiu Jitsu Gis
Well, that’s the million-dollar question, ain’t it? I heard they sell them online. I don’t know what that means, but my grandson was on his phone clicking away and he had one in the mail a few days later. Maybe that’s how they do it these days. He says the anime jiu jitsu gi is top-notch, but I don’t know what that means, either. These newfangled words!
That Anime Show
That anime show everyone watches, it’s called “Joo-Jitsu Kai-sen” or something. Lots of fighting, lots of yelling. The kids love it. They say the drawing is good. They call it “ani-mation.” My grandson says it’s the best. He’s got all the characters memorized. Says they are strong and smart. I don’t know, I can’t keep up. I just hope that anime jiu jitsu gi he bought doesn’t fall apart after all that fighting he does.
And apparently, some people who make that show, they’re not happy. They’re not working. They want… something. More money, probably. It’s always about money. I remember the studio, MAPPA, my grandson told me all about it. It’s tough, you know. Those people work hard, drawing all those pictures. They deserve a good wage, I suppose. It takes a lot of work to make that anime jiu jitsu gi look good on TV, I reckon.
Anyways, that’s all I know about these anime jiu jitsu gi things. It’s a whole world out there, I tell ya. A whole world of fighting and fancy clothes and cartoons. Just remember, whatever you wear, be respectful. And don’t go picking fights with people just ’cause you got a fancy robe on. That ain’t what it’s about.
