Okay, so today I wanted to compare two tennis players, Li and Stearns. I’ve been following their games a bit, and I thought it would be cool to actually, like, write down my thoughts as I watched them play.

First, I pulled up some recent match footage of both players. Just kinda hopped on to whatever streaming service I could find that had their matches. I started with Li. I noticed she’s got this, like, really solid baseline game. She moves pretty well, you know, gets to a lot of balls.
- Consistent groundstrokes
- Good court coverage
- Seems to dictate play often
Then, I switched over to watch Stearns. Right away, I saw a difference. She’s more, um, aggressive, I guess? She takes bigger cuts at the ball, and she tries to come to the net a lot more than Li does. It’s a higher-risk, higher-reward kind of style.
Digging a Bit Deeper
After watching a few games from each, I started jotting down some notes. I used a basic notebook for god’s sake. Here’s kinda what I was thinking:
- Li: Patient, waits for the right moment, good defender.
- Stearns: Attacks early, tries to finish points quickly, sometimes makes more errors.
I then tried to imagine how a match between them would go. I figured Li would try to extend the rallies, make Stearns hit a lot of balls, and maybe get frustrated. Stearns, on the other hand, would be looking to, like, blast winners and put pressure on Li from the start.
It became more clear after that *’s all about which style would prevail. Could Li’s consistency wear down Stearns? Or would Stearns’ power be too much for Li to handle? It is what tennis is all about.

Honestly, it was a fun little exercise. It helped me appreciate the different ways players approach the game. Will I do more comparisons like this? Definitely!
