Okay, so the other day, I wanted to hop on Lethal Company with my buddies. We were all hyped up to scavenge some scrap and, you know, try not to die horribly.

I fired up the game, clicked “Join,” and boom – “an error occurred joining.” Seriously? Talk about a buzzkill.
My first instinct was to just try again. You know, the classic “turn it off and on again” approach. So, I clicked “Join” a few more times. No dice. Still that same annoying error message.
Next, I figured maybe it was my internet being wonky. I did a quick speed test – everything looked good. My ping was low, download and upload speeds were normal. So, the internet wasn’t the culprit.
Then, I thought, “Maybe it’s a Steam issue?” I restarted Steam completely. Logged out, logged back in, the whole nine yards. Launched Lethal Company again, tried to join… still nothing. Frustrating!
Troubleshooting Time
- Checked Game Files.I did verify integrity of game files, I right-clicked on Lethal Company in my Steam library, went to “Properties,” then “Local Files,” and clicked “Verify integrity of game files.” Steam did its thing, and… no problems found.
- Restart Computer. Restarted Computer,I did the classic and restart computer.
- Firewall.
I figured I should check my firewall, just in case. Opened up Windows Firewall settings, made sure Lethal Company was allowed through. It was.
- Ask Friends. And lastly,I double-checked with my friends that they all had the game closed when attempting to start a new game.

After all the restart,I try to host the game, and my friends can finally join me!I do not know exact reason but we did it!
Anyway, just wanted to share my little adventure in troubleshooting. Sometimes, the simplest fix is the one that works. Other times, it’s a bit of a head-scratcher. Keep on scavenging, folks!
