Alright, so listen up, y’all. We’re gonna talk about this fella, Schwarber, and his big ol’ contract. Don’t know much about baseball, but I hear tell he swings a bat pretty good.
Schwarber’s Got Himself a Big Pile of Money
Now, they say this Schwarber fella, he signed himself a contract with them Phillies back in 2022. A contract, you know, like when you agree to do somethin’ for somebody and they agree to pay you. Well, this contract, it’s worth a whole heap of money. Seventy-nine million dollars, they say! Can you even imagine that much money? I sure can’t. Makes my head spin just thinkin’ about it.
That’s, uh… let’s see… almost twenty million dollars a year! For playin’ ball! Lord have mercy, back in my day, you worked your fingers to the bone just to put food on the table. These fellas, they hit a ball with a stick and get rich. Times sure have changed.
- Contract Year: 2022
- Total Value: $79,000,000
- Years: 4
- Yearly Pay: Around $19,750,000
Four Years of Hitting and Catching, Maybe?
So, this contract, it’s good for four years. That means Schwarber’s gonna be playin’ for the Phillies for a while, unless somethin’ crazy happens. They say he’s gonna be a free agent in 2026. That means he can go play for whoever he wants after that, I guess. Maybe he’ll get even more money then! Who knows?
Ouch! That Elbow Don’t Look Good
I heard tell Schwarber hurt his elbow. Poor fella. Happened when he was tryin’ to get back to first base. They say he dove and banged it up somethin’ fierce. The manager, Rob, that’s what they call him, said it was a contusion, or somethin’ like that. Sounded painful, whatever it was. They even had to put him on somethin’ called the IL. Don’t rightly know what that is, but it sounds like he ain’t playin’ for a bit.
Making Room for the Big Shots
Seems like they got a lot of fellas playin’ ball. They had to make room for some other guys, Harper and this Schwarber fella. So they sent some other players away, or somethin’. Moved ‘em around like checkers on a board, I tell ya. It’s all a bit confusing, but I guess that’s how they do things in the big leagues.
Trading Schwarber? Now That’s Just Crazy Talk!
And then there’s this talk about tradin’ him. Sendin’ him off to Detroit, of all places. For some young fella, a prospect they call him. Number twelve, no less. Don’t know why they’d want to do that. Seventy-nine million dollars and they’re gonna trade him away? Sounds like a bunch of hooey to me.
He Was a Pretty Good Free Agent, They Say
Before he signed with the Phillies, they say Schwarber was one of the best free agents out there. Ranked number 26, or so I heard. Guess that means a lot of teams wanted him. Makes sense, I reckon. A fella who can hit a ball that far is worth somethin’, even if he does hurt his elbow now and again.
Eighty Million? Close Enough, I Guess.
Some folks say the contract was for eighty million dollars, not seventy-nine. What’s a million dollars here or there when you’re talkin’ about that much money? It’s all the same to me. A whole lot of money that I ain’t never gonna see, that’s for sure.
So, there you have it. That’s the lowdown on Schwarber’s contract, as best as I can figure it. A whole bunch of money for hittin’ a ball and runnin’ around. Must be nice. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go tend to my garden. Them tomatoes ain’t gonna pick themselves.
