Okay, so I decided to try my hand at predicting the Kings vs. Cavs game. I’m no expert, but I figured, why not? Let’s see how this goes.

First, I looked up their recent games. Just kinda skimmed through some box scores, you know, to get a feel for how both teams are doing. Nothing too fancy, just checking out wins and losses, who’s scoring, that sort of thing.
Then, I tried to remember if I’d seen either team play lately. I think I caught a Kings game a week or so ago? My memory’s a little fuzzy, but I tried to recall how they looked overall. Were they playing fast? Good defense?
My Very Scientific Process
- Step 1: Remember stuff vaguely.
- Step 2: Look at some numbers.
- Step 3: ???
- Step 4: Profit (maybe?)
After that, it was pretty much a gut feeling. I mean, I flipped a coin in my head, basically. One side Kings, one side Cavs. Which way did my brain-coin land? I’m not telling! Just kidding…but seriously, it was kind of a toss-up.
I jotted down my prediction on a sticky note. Because, you know, that’s what serious analysts do. Sticky notes. Then I waited for the game to start,

and watched the game.
In the end the actual score was pretty far from my * I crumpled up that sticky note and tossed it in the trash. Turns out, predicting basketball games is harder than it looks! I guess there is more method and analysis to it! I’m just not good at it. But it was fun to try!
