Alright, so today I’m gonna walk you through my MMA training session with a focus on what I learned from watching Justin Watson fight.

First off, I woke up early, like 5 AM early. Grueling, I know, but dedication is key. I chugged a protein shake – gotta fuel up, right?
Next, I headed to the gym. Traffic was surprisingly light, which was a win. Got there, started with a light warm-up: jumping jacks, high knees, butt kicks – the usual stuff.
Then, I jumped into shadow boxing. This is where I really started thinking about Watson’s style. I focused on his footwork, how he moves in and out, keeps his distance, and circles his opponent. I tried to mimic that, pretending I was facing a southpaw.
After shadow boxing, it was time for some heavy bag work. I visualized Watson’s combinations – the jab, cross, hook, and then the leg kick. I drilled those over and over, focusing on speed and power. I made sure to keep my hands up and my chin tucked – gotta protect yourself out there.
Next up, grappling. I worked on takedown defense, sprawls, and escapes. Watched a few videos of Watson getting out of tricky situations and tried to apply those principles. It’s tough, man. Someone’s trying to take you down, it’s a whole different ball game.

Then, it was time for some sparring. I paired up with a buddy, and we went a few rounds. I tried to implement the things I had been working on – the footwork, the combinations, the takedown defense. I got tagged a few times, but I also landed some good shots. That’s the learning process, I guess.
After sparring, I did some core work – planks, Russian twists, sit-ups. Gotta have a strong core if you want to absorb those body shots and generate power.
Finally, I finished with some stretching and cool-down exercises. Gotta take care of your body, or you’ll be sidelined with injuries.
The whole session was tough, but I felt good afterwards. I learned a lot about Watson’s style and how to incorporate some of his techniques into my own training. The key takeaway? Consistency is everything. You gotta keep showing up, keep putting in the work, and keep learning. That’s how you get better.
