Alright, so, I tried my hand at the John Deere Classic Monday qualifier. Yeah, the one for the PGA Tour event. It sounded pretty cool when I first heard about it, and I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” I mean, I’ve been hitting the range pretty often, and my buddies always tell me I’ve got a decent swing. So, I went ahead and registered.
First off, getting all the info was a bit of a pain. I had to dig through a bunch of websites to find out the dates, the course, and all that jazz. But, I finally got everything sorted out. Then came the waiting game. I kept checking for any news or updates, feeling like a kid waiting for Christmas morning.
When the day finally rolled around, I was a mix of excited and nervous. I packed my clubs, double-checked everything, and headed out. The atmosphere at the course was electric. You could feel the tension in the air. Everyone there was serious about getting one of those coveted spots.
I teed off and, man, it was intense. Every swing, every putt felt like it carried so much weight. I saw some young dude, apparently only 18 and already turned pro after playing in the U.S. Open. I heard he was the reigning British Amateur champion, which is seriously impressive. Watching him and other really good players made me realize the level of competition I was up against.
- First Round: My first round was a bit shaky. I had a few good holes but also made some dumb mistakes. Nerves, I guess.
- Second Round: I tried to shake it off and focus more on the second round. It went a bit better, but not enough to get me through.
I didn’t make the cut, unfortunately. It was a bummer, but also a real eye-opener. I saw what it takes to compete at that level, and I have to say, it’s tough. I heard about Davis Thompson and CT Pan qualifying for The 152nd Open at Royal Troon after playing well at the John Deere Classic. It’s insane to think they did that well after this. Also heard Davis Thompson won the whole thing and took home 1.44 million dollars. That’s wild.
This whole experience was a good lesson. It showed me where I stand and how much work I still need to put in if I want to compete with those guys. The competition is fierce, and you really need to bring your A-game. I definitely learned a lot, and it’s motivated me to practice even harder.
What’s Next?
Well, I’m not giving up. I’m going to keep practicing and try to improve my game. Maybe I’ll give it another shot next year, or try some other qualifiers. Who knows? The important thing is to keep at it and not lose sight of the goal. It’s all about the journey, right?
So yeah, that’s my story about the John Deere Classic Monday qualifier. It was a wild ride, and even though I didn’t make it, I’m glad I did it. Learned a bunch, and I’m ready to take on the next challenge. Keep swinging, folks!
