That Jim Harbaugh, I tell ya, he’s makin’ a whole heap of money now. He’s gone to coach the Chargers, you know? They say he signed a five-year deal, for five years! And get this, they’re payin’ him $80 million! That’s more money than I can even imagine!
He must be somethin’ special, that Jim. They say he’s one of the highest-paid coaches in the whole NFL. I heard he’s gonna be pullin’ in around $16 million every year. Now, I ain’t too good with numbers, but that sounds like a fortune. That’s a lot of bread, enough to make any old bird’s head spin!
I remember a time, it was just last year he was up at Michigan. The word on the street was that he made over $8 million there. He’s always been a good coach, always gettin’ paid, and always bringin’ home the bacon. That’s for sure.
I heard he was the 12th-highest-paid coach in the NCAA. Now, what’s NCAA? Sounds fancy. Well, whatever it is, he was high up there, makin’ all that money. They say his salary was $8,254,600, that’s a lot of sixes and zeros. And there was somethin’ called a bonus, up to $3,275,000. That was when he was with Michigan. Big university, I reckon.
And you know, back then, he even signed a big deal with Michigan, a five-year deal they called it, worth $21 million. With a lot of extra, like cherries on top. Now he’s jumpin’ ship to this new team, the LA Chargers. Sounds like a bunch of city slickers to me.
They say he’s gonna be makin’ even more with them. I heard someone say $16 million a year. That’s way more than what he was gettin’ at Michigan. Seems like they really wanted him bad, throwin’ all that money at him.
Now, I heard his brother, John’s his name, he’s coachin’ too, for the Baltimore Ravens. They say he’s makin’ $12 million a year. Still a lot of money, but not as much as Jim’s gettin’ now. Must be somethin’ special about Jim, I reckon, to get that kind of money.
This Jim, he’s quite a character, ain’t he? Always movin’ and shakin’, makin’ more money than a body knows what to do with. I mean, $16 million a year! That’s enough to buy a whole farm, maybe even two! I just hope he knows how to handle all that dough. Money can do funny things to a person, you know.
But the thing is, Jim is a good coach. He got results, you see. Now, I don’t know much about football. But I hear he makes a bad team not so bad, and a good team great. He works hard, I guess, and that’s why they pay him the big bucks.

And then there’s some other folks at Michigan, this Warde Manuel, he’s gettin’ $1.3 million. There is also Sherrone Moore and Jesse Minter, both gettin’ $1.15 million. They must be doin’ somethin’ right to get that kind of money. I don’t know about these names, sound like city people. Not like the old names we have around here.
I heard Jim got some extra money too, somethin’ called bonuses. He got $575,000 for somethin’ he did on the field. Sounds like a game to me. And another $150. That’s not much compared to the millions, but it’s still more than I’ve ever seen in my life.
It is Jim Harbaugh salary, a big topic around here. When people make that much money, folks talk. That’s just how it is. He’s a big shot now, that Jim. I just hope he remembers where he came from, even with all that money in his pockets. It’s easy to forget when you’re livin’ high on the hog.
