I recently checked out the parking situation at the US Open in Pinehurst, and let me tell you, it was quite the experience. I’d heard a bit about the RED and BLUE lots, but actually navigating it all was a whole different story.
So, I got there and, from what I read, there are two main parking lots. The RED Lot, which is up north on NC-73 in West End, and the BLUE Lot, which is south on Sand Pit Road in Aberdeen. I decided to aim for the RED Lot since it seemed a bit closer to where I was coming from. I followed the signs, and they were pretty clear, which was a relief. No getting lost, thank goodness.
Getting to the RED Lot was straightforward enough. It’s off US-15/501 via NC-73 West. I just followed the signs from there, and it led me right to it. Once I pulled in, I was greeted by a bunch of parking attendants, which was super helpful. They directed me to a spot, and it wasn’t too crowded, which was nice. I was able to find a decent spot without any hassle.
- Arrived at Pinehurst
- Chose the RED Lot based on location
- Followed clear signage from US-15/501 via NC-73 West
- Parked easily with help from attendants
Now, I knew they had a shuttle service, and that was a big reason I went with this lot. I didn’t want to deal with the headache of finding parking closer to the venue. The shuttle stop was easy to find, and there was already one waiting. I hopped on, and it was pretty comfy, not too packed. The ride to the venue was smooth, and they dropped us off right near the entrance. I have to say that the shuttle service is pretty convenient and well-organized.
- Located the shuttle stop easily
- Boarded a waiting shuttle
- Enjoyed a comfortable ride to the venue
- Was dropped off near the entrance
Overall Impression
All in all, the whole parking experience at the RED Lot was pretty smooth. I mean, I did not have to stress about finding a spot, the shuttle was convenient, and I got to the US Open without any major issues. If you’re heading there, I’d say parking at the RED Lot is a solid choice. Just follow the signs, use the shuttle, and you’re good to go. I even made a note to wear a collared shirt and decent pants next time, just to fit in a bit better. It seemed like a good idea based on what I saw others wearing.
I would definitely recommend using the RED Lot if you’re going to Pinehurst. Hassle-free parking and a smooth ride to the event – what more could you ask for?
