Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this Guggenheim Baseball Management, you know, the folks who run the Los Angeles Dodgers. Don’t know much about fancy business, but I can tell ya what I see.
Guggenheim Baseball Management, that’s a mouthful, ain’t it? They bought the Dodgers way back in 2012. Heard tell they paid a whole lotta money, like, billions of dollars. Two billion, I think? That’s more money than I ever seen in my whole life, that’s for sure.
Now, these fellas, they ain’t just one person. It’s a whole bunch of ’em, a group, you know? Like a posse, but with suits and ties instead of cowboy hats. There’s this fella, Mark Walter, he’s the big cheese, the boss man. And wouldn’t ya know it, Magic Johnson, the basketball fella, he’s in on it too. Fancy that, a basketball man messin’ with baseball. But hey, if they got the money, I guess they can do what they want.
They bought the team from that Fox fella, Rupert Murdoch. Heard he’s a big shot too. Then they went and bought the land around the stadium too. Guess they wanted the whole shebang. Can’t say I blame ’em. If you gonna do somethin’, do it right, I always say.
- Big Money, Big Promises: When they came in, they said they wanted the Dodgers to be the best at everything. Best team, best stadium, best hot dogs, probably. Don’t know about all that, but they sure did spend a lot of money.
- Winning Ways?: Folks always talkin’ about winnin’. World Series this, World Series that. The Yankees, they got a whole bunch of ’em, like 27 or somethin’. Cardinals got some too. Dodgers won one in 2020, after these Guggenheim fellas took over. That’s good, I guess. Folks like a winnin’ team.
- More Than Just Baseball: Seems like they doin’ more than just baseball too. Got somethin’ to do with TV, makin’ deals and such. Money comin’ in from all over, I reckon. They gotta pay those players somehow, them fellas make a fortune throwin’ a ball around.
- Shohei Ohtani: And then they went and got that Ohtani fella, the one who can hit and pitch. Folks say he’s real good. Cost a pretty penny too, I bet. Heard they paid him a whole heap of money, hundreds of millions. That’s enough to buy a whole town, ain’t it?
They been runnin’ things for over ten years now. Some folks happy, some folks not so happy. That’s just the way it is, you can’t please everybody all the time. But they still spendin’ money, still tryin’ to win, still makin’ deals. Guess they ain’t goin’ nowhere anytime soon.
Guggenheim Baseball Management Group, they got big plans, that’s for sure. They want the Dodgers to be a big deal, not just in LA, but everywhere. They wanna be the best, like they said. Well, money can buy you a lot of things, but it can’t buy you everything. You still gotta play the game, gotta hit the ball, gotta catch the ball. That’s what I always say.
Remember when they paid all that money for the team, 2.15 billion? That was a record back then. Now they payin’ players hundreds of millions. It’s crazy, all this money flyin’ around. But that’s baseball, I guess. Big business, big money, big dreams. And this Stan Kasten fella seems important too, always hearin’ his name. He’s part of the group, helpin’ run things.
They said they wanted to be different from other owners. Said they’d do things better. Don’t know if they are or not. Hard to keep track of all them rich folks and what they doin’. But they sure are spendin’ a lot of money. And they got that Ohtani fella now. That’s gotta count for somethin’, right? Folks are excited, that’s for sure. Heard tickets are gonna cost an arm and a leg now. Everything’s gettin’ expensive, ain’t it?
So, that’s the story as I see it. Bunch of rich folks buyin’ a baseball team, spendin’ lots of money, tryin’ to win. Sounds about right for this day and age. Guggenheim Baseball Management, huh? Like I said, it’s a mouthful. But they’re the ones runnin’ the show for the Dodgers now. And as long as they keep winnin’, folks’ll probably be happy enough. But if they start losin’, well, that’s a whole ‘nother story.
