Alright, listen up y’all, let’s talk about them Pacers, the basketball team, you know? The ones that run around the court like chickens with their heads cut off. Folks keep askin’ me, “Who’s gonna be startin’ for them Pacers this year?” Well, I ain’t no fancy sports person, but I got eyes and ears, and I can tell ya what I see and what I hear.
First off, ya gotta understand, these things change like the weather. One day it’s sunny, next day it’s rainin’ cats and dogs. Same with these basketball players. One day they’re healthy as a horse, next day they’re sittin’ on the bench with a boo-boo. But, from what I gather, there’s some fellas that are pretty much gonna be out there at the start of the game, unless somethin’ goes real wrong.
The Pacers Starting Lineup, See?
Now, don’t go quotin’ me on this, ’cause like I said, things change. But from what I hear tell, this is who’s gonna be startin’ most of the time.
- That Haliburton fella: Folks say he’s real good. Passes the ball like a hot potato, and he can shoot too. But I heard he got hurt sometime back. Hope he’s alright now, ’cause they need him out there. He’s the engine, you see? Makes the whole thing go.
- Then there’s that big fella, Turner: He’s tall, real tall. Like a beanpole, but stronger. He’s supposed to get them rebounds and block shots. You know, keep the other team from scorin’. Important job, that is. He’s been around for a spell, so he should know what he’s doin’.
- And that whatchamacallit, Mathurin: This young fella, they say he’s got a lot of pep. Runs fast and shoots the ball. He’s one of the newer guys, but he’s makin’ a name for himself. People seem to like him alright. He’s got that somethin’, you know? That spark.
- And don’t forget about… uh… Nesmith: He’s another one that can shoot. They need shooters, you know? Can’t win if you can’t put the ball in the basket. That’s just common sense. He’s kinda quiet, but he gets the job done, or so they tell me.
- And… and… the other fella, I think his name is Jackson: He’s the hustle guy. Does the dirty work. Grabs rebounds, plays defense. Every team needs a fella like that. He aint always flashy, but he’s important, like the glue that holds everything together.
Now, like I said, this ain’t set in stone. Injuries happen, players get traded, sometimes the coach just decides to change things up for no good reason. But that’s the group I hear tell is gonna be startin’ most of the time when the season kicks off. They are playing Detroit first, them Pistons. I hear they ain’t so good, but you never know in this here basketball game.
Other Things to Know, Ya Hear?
They got some other fellas on the team too. Some old, some young. Some good, some… well, not so good. But that’s basketball for ya. It takes a whole bunch of ‘em, not just them five starters.
And that Reggie Miller fella, he used to play for the Pacers a long time ago. They say he was a real good shooter. Made a whole lotta them three-pointers. But he ain’t playin’ no more. He’s too old now. Time moves on, you see? Even for basketball players.
They also played them Raptors not too long ago, and lost. Close game though, real close. Heard it was just one point difference. These things happen. Can’t win ‘em all, I guess. But they’ll keep on tryin’, these Pacers. That’s what they do. They play basketball, and we watch ‘em. Or some folks do, anyway. Me, I just like to keep up with what’s goin’ on, you know? Keeps things interestin’.
