Alright, so I wanted to mess around with some sidearm pitchers in MLB The Show 24. I’ve always thought they were kinda cool, with their funky deliveries and all that. Figured it’d be fun to try and build a team around them, or at least have a few in my bullpen.
First thing I did was jump into the game. I went straight to the roster section to just browse and see who was even considered a sidearm pitcher. I honestly didn’t even know where to start, so I figured I’d just look around.
I spent a good chunk of time just scrolling through the lists. I think there’s a way to filter by delivery type, but I couldn’t find it at first. I eventually realized I could sort of eyeball it – you know, look for guys with that low arm slot in their player picture.
My “Research” (aka Messing Around)
After a while of, uh, “researching,” I started to recognize a few names. I jotted down some of the guys who looked interesting, mostly based on their overall ratings and whether I’d heard of them before. I’m not gonna lie, a lot of it was guesswork.
Then came the fun part – actually trying them out! I set up a quick exhibition game and started swapping pitchers in and out. I was mainly paying attention to how their pitches moved. Did they have a nasty slider? A good sinker? Anything that looked particularly tough to hit?
- Darren O’Day: Dude looked ancient, I mean, look at his classic sidearm, but his stuff was still pretty good.
- Adam Cimber: I remember this guy! He was another one that caught my eye.
- Tyler Rogers: submarine style! So cool!
I played around with different pitch types and locations. Some of these guys have some serious movement on their pitches. It’s wild to see how much the ball can break when it’s coming from that low angle. It definitely felt different than throwing with a more traditional overhand pitcher.
Putting it All Together
My final step, at least for now, was to try and build a bullpen with a few of these guys. I wanted a mix of righties and lefties, and I also wanted to make sure I had some guys who could throw different pitches. I don’t want to be too predictable, you know?
Honestly, it’s all just a work in progress. I’m still experimenting and figuring out which pitchers I like best. But it’s been a blast so far. It’s definitely added a new dimension to the game for me. I feel like I get those pitcher’s unique style!
