Well, now y’all, if you’re lookin’ to dive in MLB The Show 23, I reckon I can help you out. It’s not too tricky once you get the hang of it, but you gotta know what buttons to press, or you’ll be makin’ a fool of yourself out there on the field!
First thing you gotta know is that diving is somethin’ you’ll use when you’re tryin’ to make a big ol’ catch. It ain’t always gonna work out perfect, but you sure do look real fancy when you get it right. Now, the button to dive depends on what kind of controller you’re using. If you got yourself an Xbox controller, well, you’re gonna want to hit the RT button. For PlayStation, it’s that R2 button. You know, the one right there on the top. Real easy to find if you just look for it!
But, now hold on a second. There’s more to it than just hittin’ that button. You gotta time it right. Ain’t no good just mashing buttons like you’re in a fight. When you see that ball comin’ and you’re in a good spot, you press the button at the right time, and boom! You’ll be diving like a pro.
Let’s talk timing, though. Timing’s everything, honey. If you press that button too early or too late, you ain’t gonna dive properly, and that ball’s gonna slip right past you. So, when you see that prompt come up on your screen, you gotta press that button at just the right moment. It’ll take a little practice, but after a while, you’ll know exactly when to do it. You’ll be diving like it’s second nature!
Now, if you’re playing on Xbox, don’t forget about that A button that pops up sometimes. That’s for the dive plays, too, and you’ll need to press it at the right moment. If you miss the first time, don’t you worry none! Just keep tryin’, and soon enough you’ll get the hang of it.
And what about jumpin’, you ask? Well, if you wanna jump, that’s a different button entirely. On Xbox, you gotta press that RB button. For PlayStation, it’s the R1 button. You see, each button’s got its own job to do. Jumpin’ is useful for gettin’ to high balls, but you ain’t gonna dive for those, no ma’am!
Now, I know what you’re thinkin’. “What about sliding? I heard somethin’ about slidin’!” Well, don’t worry, we’ll get to that. If you’re lookin’ to slide, that’s a whole different animal. For Xbox, you’re gonna use the right joystick to slide whichever way you want. On PlayStation, you’re gonna use that R3 joystick. Just move it in the direction you want to go, and you’ll slide like a slip-n-slide on a hot summer day. But don’t you be gettin’ too carried away, ‘cause sliding can mess you up if you ain’t careful.
So, what have we learned?
- RT or R2 is for diving, depending on your controller.
- Timing is everything when you’re diving, so be patient and wait for that prompt.
- RB or R1 is for jumpin’. Don’t confuse it with diving!
- Sliding is done with the right joystick, and you can control the direction you wanna slide in.
With all this in mind, you should be ready to go out there and dive like a real baseball player. It might take a little practice to get the feel of it, but I know you’ll do just fine. So, next time you’re playin’ MLB The Show 23, don’t forget about your dive, your jump, and your slide. Get yourself out there and make those plays, and who knows—you might even get a few highlight reels out of it!
