Okay, so I was messing around the other day, felt like doing something practical. You know how it is. Decided to take a crack at a WWE logo. Becky Lynch’s ‘The Man’ logo caught my eye. Always dug her whole attitude, and that logo’s pretty iconic, right?
Digging for Refs
First things first, had to actually see the thing properly. Fired up the old computer, punched “Becky Lynch logo” into the search bar. Grabbed a whole mess of pictures – different sizes, different merch. Her main ‘The Man’ one, some variations. You gotta have good material to work from, otherwise you’re just guessing.
Pencil and Paper Time
I don’t just dive onto the screen, nah. Gotta start with paper. Found a scrap piece, grabbed a pencil. Just trying to feel out the letters, you know? That blocky font looks simple but getting the weight right, the spacing… it’s fiddly. Sketched it out a few times. Some looked wonky, erased ’em, tried again. Good old-fashioned way.
Into the Machine
Got a sketch that looked kinda okay. Scanned that sucker in. Then I booted up my design software. I use Affinity Designer mostly, ’cause, well, it works and I already paid for it. Illustrator works too, or Inkscape if you want free stuff. Doesn’t really matter what tool you use, honestly. Started tracing over my sketch. Mostly used the pen tool, clicking away. Getting those straight lines and sharp corners right takes patience. Lots of clicking, dragging, undoing. The usual grind.
Getting the Look
Becky’s logo is often just stark black and white. Simple, bold. Stuck with that mostly. Made sure the letters felt solid, thick. Then I thought about that rough look it sometimes has, like it’s been through a fight. Found a grunge texture picture, slapped it on top, messed with the layer settings – multiply, overlay, whatever looked decent. Took some fiddling to get that worn-in vibe without making it look like a total mess.
Wrapping It Up
So yeah, spent some time cleaning up edges, nudging things around millimeter by millimeter until my eyes hurt. Made sure it all looked balanced. Saved it out. It ain’t perfect, probably not gonna print it on a shirt tomorrow, but for a bit of practice, it looks like Becky’s logo alright. Captures that ‘Man’ energy, I reckon. Was a decent way to spend an afternoon. Maybe I’ll try tackling Rhea Ripley’s stuff next time, that looks tricky.
